UPDATE 4:26 p.m. ET: The New Orleans Saints PR team has announced that Chris Olave has been discharged from the hospital at which he was being evaluated, and will fly home with the team.
Olave himself tweeted at 4:05 pm, thanking fans for their good thoughts.
What a sigh of relief for one of the season’s scariest hits, on one of the league’s most promising receivers. During, no less, a season when he’s been on the barrel end of too many hits like that.
We’ll keep a close eye on Olave’s practice participation throughout the week, and will provide coverage and analysis as we get more news from New Orleans.
For now, we’re just happy that Chris Olave is okay and back with his teammates.
UPDATE 1:37 p.m. ET: Chris Olave has been ruled out for the remainder of today’s game against the Saints with a concussion.
According to the New Orleans Saints PR account, Olave has movement in all his extremities, and is currently undergoing further evaluation at a nearby hospital.
The 2024 season has been one full of, quite frankly, too many concussions for Chris Olave. This is now the third time he’s left a game with a head injury after taking a brutal hit. It’s getting to the point where the overall concern among NFL fans should be for Chris Olave the person as opposed to Chris Olave, #12 on the New Orleans Saints.

Early in the first quarter of the Saints game against the Panthers, Chris Olave took a nasty took to the head on a target over the middle of the field and remained down after contact.
The cart has since come out for Olave, and the game has remained paused—the stoppage has lasted well over five minutes—while they address the injury as carefully and safely as possible on the field.
There’s no other way to put it: this is a devastating situation for Chris Olave, the New Orleans Saints, and Saints fans everywhere. They’ve repeatedly had to watch one of their star wideouts’ safety in question week-to-week. Many thought this game, especially since Derek Carr was returning, would be the advent of Chris Olave’s breakout season as a WR1.
Instead, all we can hope for now is his good health.
We’ll provide more updates as the team releases them, but this obviously does not bode well for Olave’s status for the remainder of today’s game.
