The Nuggets are locking up point guard Jamal Murray through the 2029 season by agreeing to a maximum contract extension for four years worth $209 million, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania.
Murray played 59 games last season, averaging 21.1 points, a career-high 6.5 assists and 4.1 rebounds. In the playoffs, he averaged 20.6 points, 5.6 assists and 4.3 rebounds in 12 games. He and the Nuggets knocked out the Lakers before losing the to Timberwolves in seven games.
This offseason, the Nuggets brought in Russell Westbrook to back up Murray instead of Reggie Jackson, who they traded to Charlotte. They also lost Kentavious Caldwell-Pope to free agency.
Looking ahead to 2024-5, the Nuggets have the second-shortest odds at +450 to win the Western Conference and +950 to win the NBA Finals. Murray is also available at +475 on the Team Specials to average 2.5+ 3s made/G, 6+ APG and the Nuggets to win 55+ games.
