Monday’s game between the Orioles and Mets was damp and dreary, as the game was delayed due to inclement weather, then each offense could only muster six hits.
However, it ended in dramatic fashion, as Francisco Alvarez ($3,200; 16 FPTS) sent a 3-0 pitch over the centerfield wall for the walk-off blast.
To get to that point, though, J.D. Martinez ($4,500; 16 FPTS) hit a two-run shot in the first inning to put the Mets up on top. They extended the lead on a Tyrone Taylor ($3,000; 5 FPTS) RBI single in the fourth inning.
Ramon Urias ($2,700; 21 FPTS) scored on a ground out in the fifth inning to finally put the Orioles on the board. They scored again in the seventh inning on a balk, of all things.
David Peterson ($7,300; 23.55 FPTS) was dealing all night for the Mets, as he struck out eight in seven innings while walking one and allowing two earned runs on six hits. Unfortunately, one of those was a solo home run served up to Urias in the seventh that tied the game at 3-3, setting the stage for the Alvarez heroics.
