In front of the St. Louis crowd, the right-hander tossed seven strong innings while flashing an electrifying fastball that the Dodgers’ bats struggled to catch up to. He finished the outing with five punchouts while only allowing a pair of earned runs.
The Cardinals’ offense was active early, prioritizing chasing early count strikes. Designated hitter Alec Burleson ($4,500; 26 FPTS) led the way with a trio of hits, including a two-run blast in the third inning.
Nolan Arenado ($4,300; 14 FPTS) wanted in on the fun and crushed a high fastball to left field to provide an insurance run in the eighth.
NL MVP frontrunner Shohei Ohtani ($6,900; 28 FPTS) was the only source of offense for the Dodgers, as he launched his 38th homer of the season, providing the only two runs for Los Angeles.
Franchise cornerstone Freddie Freeman ($5,300, 5 FPTS) left the game late after injuring his finger on a grounder to first.
Despite the loss, the Dodgers are still the favorites to claim the NL West crown at -450.
