Will Bo Nix be the Broncos starting QB?

The Broncos are one of the few teams in the NFL with a QB competition going on this preseason, but rookie Bo Nix may be ready to put that competition to bed early, after a big game in preseason Week 1 against the Colts. He looked every part the starter, but the team has yet to make any announcement about who will start Week 1.

As explained on Friday, Jarrett Stidham got the start on Sunday afternoon against the Colts, but Nix looked very sharp after replacing the veteran. Stidham went 4-for-7 for 37 yards with an interception and no touchdowns, and the Broncos failed to score on either of his two possessions.

Nix took over and led the team to four scores on four possessions, two field goals and two touchdowns. Nix finished 15-of-21 for 125 passing yards and a passing touchdown to Marvin Mims Jr.

The No. 12 overall pick showed off good accuracy and leadership throughout his time in the game and also had this nice throw on the move for his first preseason NFL completion:

According to coach Sean Payton, Nix will start preseason Week 2 against the Packers on Sunday night at home. With another strong performance like this one, Nix could lock up the Broncos’ starting job, especially if Stidham continues to struggle.

Right now, Nix is barely in Best Ball contests on DraftKings with an ADP of 202.6. He’s coming off the board just after Bryce Young and J.J. McCarthy and just ahead of Drake Maye and Russell Wilson.

For Week 1 DFS contests, Nix is extremely affordable at just $5,000 in what looks like it would be a tough road matchup in Seattle. His Broncos are currently +4.5 in that Week 1 matchup which has an over/under of 42.5 points.

If Nix does claim the starting job for Payton in the Broncos offense, he becomes a very interesting option on DraftKings SportsBook. He is +1800 to win Offensive Rookie of the Year and +500 to lead all rookies in passing yards. As a team, the Broncos are +700 to make the playoffs, which are the second-longest odds of any team in the NFL, with only the Patriots facing longer odds to make the postseason.
