UConn Huskies vs. Michigan Wolverines prediction, pick for NCAAM College Basketball on Friday 11/6/26

College basketball returned this week, and gave us a couple of big-time matchups on Monday. However, the headliner tips off on Friday night in Boston, MA. UConn and Michigan are set for a rematch of April’s National Championship game. While the Wolverines cut down the nets the last time these two teams met, the Huskies are favored to get some revenge this time around.

Let’s breakdown a betting angle on this primetime Friday night college hoops matchup.

UConn vs. Michigan prediction, preview (8pm ET – Boston, MA)

The Huskies had another one of their vintage runs to the National Championship game last March, but after winning back-to-back titles in 2023 and 2024, the ending was different this time around. The Wolverines were a buzzsaw all season, and that was the case again in the title game.

But things have changed … a lot. Gone to the NBA is the head coach and the best three players from Michigan’s roster — all of which were lottery picks. Yaxel Lendeborg, Morez Johnson Jr. and Aday Mara all heard their names called early on draft night. Dusty May actually took the Dallas Mavericks’ job, where he used his top-10 pick to select Johnson.

But it wasn’t just the top-end talent that went to the NBA, plenty more key rotation players were lost. Nimari Burnett was a starter last season for the Wolverines who is no longer eligible. Will Tschetter was a veteran spark off the bench for the championship team that is also done with college basketball. On top of that, L.J. Cason was supposed to be the point guard of the future for the program. He tore his ACL just before March Madness, and then decided to transfer out to Miami.

Michigan does at least maintain some experience in the backcourt. Elliot Cadeau, Trey McKenney and Roddy Gayle Jr. all returned and started the first game. The major transfer get was J.P. Estrella, who was a strong big at Tennessee. While it’s a nice get, it doesn’t cover up for three lottery picks out of the front court.

There are some other younger players and freshman stepping into larger roles, but this Michigan team is feeling itself out. The Wolverines got a lackluster win in their opener at home, defeating Oakland by 16 points after opening as a 28.5-point favorite. In their only true test of an exhibition game, the Wolverines got beat handily by Houston, 83-66.

Enter UConn, which loaded back up following the loss to Michigan and is out for revenge.

Don’t get it twisted, the Huskies have some key losses too. Alex Karaban and Tarris Reed Jr. were both selected in the NBA Draft, and Solo Ball is out long-term with a wrist injury he was playing through late last season. A few more bench contributors moved on as well.

However, Silas Demary Jr. and Braylon Mullins are back to create one of the best backcourts in the country. Jayden Ross returns to provide an upperclassman wing, and the front court reloaded in the transfer portal. Nik Khamenia from Duke and Na’jai Hines from Seton Hall had encouraging freshman seasons and are expected to breakout for the Huskies.

The bench has more depth than you’d expect. Colben Landrew is an explosive scorer that was named the preseason Big East Freshman of the Year. Oskar Giltay provides a backup center with experience playing at Stanford. Junior County is another freshman guard that comes in handy with Ball sidelined.

UConn played one high-level exhibition and dominated Purdue — a 23-point win, holding the Boilermakers to 53 points. The Huskies also looked sharper than Michigan in their opener, winning by 40 points over Gardner-Webb.

UConn has the better roster this time around, and the rankings reflect it. This is a “neutral” court, but should be an extremely pro-Husky crowd, playing just a couple of hours from campus. And, of course, we all know Dan Hurley is a psycho. If there’s revenge to be had, he wants it. This is a terrific early season revenge spot for UConn to get Michigan back for the natty.

UConn vs. Michigan pick, best bet

We opened the spread on this game at DraftKings with UConn laying -5.5 and the moneyline -230 back on Tuesday. DK was first to market on the game. On Thursday night the Huskies took significant money and the spread jumped all the way to -7.5 — you can track where the bets are going with the DraftKings Network betting splits page.

With the price now jacked up on UConn, I’ll go the double result route — titled “Half Time/Full Time” on DK. I expect the Huskies to get off to a strong start with the revenge angle and the home crowd. This bet needs UConn to lead at halftime and win the game outright to cash. The -145 price tag is the cheapest you’ll find with other books as long as -180.

College Basketball Pick: UCONN Halftime/Fulltime (-145)
