Week 8 of the NFL season is full of exciting matchups. The player prop market offers several ways to get in on the action.
Without further ado, here are three of the best player props for NFL Week 8, including plays on Zay Flowers, Michael Penix Jr. and Tony Pollard.
Best NFL Player Prop Bets and Picks for Week 8
Ravens at Bills: Zay Flowers Longest Reception Over 27.5 Yards (-111)
Lamar Jackson is finally making his return this week for the Ravens. The Baltimore passing attack has lacked explosiveness without Jackson. Prior to his injury, Jackson was on pace for another MVP season. He leads all eligible quarterbacks in adj. EPA/play so far this season. Jackson should pick up where he left off before that injury. The biggest beneficiary of Jackson’s return is Zay Flowers.
In the three games that Jackson started this season, Flowers averaged 117.3 receiving yards per game. Even last week with Tyler Huntley at quarterback, Flowers caught eight balls for 137 yards and a touchdown. Flowers has a catch of at least 28 yards in four of six games so far this season. He should clear that number here against Buffalo as well. The Bills rank 31st in the NFL in defensive EPA/dropback and 30th in defensive dropback success rate. Jackson should have success through the air and hit his favorite target on a couple of shots downfield.
Falcons at Buccaneers: Michael Penix Jr. 2+ Touchdown Passes (+146)
Michael Penix Jr. has played great since returning from injury in Week 3. Penix showed flashes of being able to run this offense with real competency in his first season, but injuries cut his rookie campaign short. After awful quarterback play plagued the Falcons in Weeks 1 and 2, they rank third in the NFL in offensive EPA/play since Week 3. Of course, Penix is supported by the best running back in the NFL, but he has thrown for six passing touchdowns over his past two games. Penix should keep it rolling this week against Tampa Bay.
The Buccaneers have one of the best run defenses in the NFL. Tampa Bay has allowed the second-fewest rushing yards per game this season. They will try to sell out to take away Bijan Robinson in this game. That will force Penix to deliver through the air for Atlanta to score. He has done just that each of the past two games, throwing for three touchdowns against both the Bears and the 49ers. The Buccaneers lead the NFL in opponent rushing touchdown percentage. An NFL-high 80% of their opponents’ touchdowns have come through the air. Penix should deliver at least two touchdown passes in this game.
Titans at Bengals: Tony Pollard Anytime Touchdown (+125)
Tony Pollard is having a nice season for the Titans. He ranks 11th in the NFL in rushing yards this season and is coming off his best game of the season. Last week against the Browns, Pollard rushed for 129 yards and three touchdowns. He should get another big workload this week against the Bengals. Tyjae Spears, Tennessee’s backup running back, is out on Sunday. That should lead to Pollard getting almost all of the carries.
The Titans’ leading receiver, Carnell Tate, is also out against Cincinnati. That should limit the Tennessee passing attack and force them to run the ball more often. The Bengals rank 27th in the NFL in defensive EPA/rush. Pollard should be able to move the ball on the ground in this game and turn one of those carries into a touchdown.
