RB Start/Sit Week 8: Fantasy Football Running Back Picks

Updated:

By: Jeff Pratt

Looking for Week 8 RB start/sit picks? Here are the running backs to start and sit in your fantasy football lineup. There have already been multiple significant injuries at this position along with a mix of surprises from veterans and young players. This sets the stage for tough lineup decisions for every fantasy manager. Let’s break down my Week 8 fantasy football RB start/sit picks below.

Fantasy Football Week 8 RB Start/Sit: Running Back Picks

  • Running backs to start: Blake Corum, Rachaad White
  • Running backs to sit: Broncos RBs, Omarion Hampton

Week 8 RB Start: Rachaad White vs. Eagles

With Jacory Croskey-Merritt on IR, it’s next man up for the Commanders backfield. The man who’s getting the nod is Rachaad White, and he should provide a dependable presence as Washington looks to stay afloat in an underwhelming NFC East race.

White has been eating into Bill’s workload this entire season and averaging four yards per carry. He’s coming off a strong receiving showing against the 49ers, in which he hauled in four catches for 30 yards and a touchdown. Now, the fifth-year back will get a another chance to show what he can do as the No. 1 RB.

This opportunity in said role comes against the Eagles, who rank in the middle of the pack against the run but just allowed Javonte Williams to rush for a career-high 155 yards. Fire up White as a solid RB2 in this matchup.

Week 8 RB Sit: Omarion Hampton at Rams

The Omarion Hampton experience might just not work out in Los Angeles. The Chargers have given Hampton extensive opportunities to prove he’s the guy, and he just can’t take advantage of them. The second-year back is averaging 3.6 yards per carry on the season and has failed to record double-digit PPR points in three of his last four games. He hasn’t seen a snap share over 50% since Week 2.

Considering his lack of inspiring play, it’s no surprise that Kimani Vidal and Keaton Mitchell have eaten into Hampton’s workload. In L.A.’s last contest, Vidal saw only one fewer touch than Hampton. I expect a similar split moving forward, firmly capping Hampton’s fantasy upside. Keep him on your bench against the Rams, who rank just outside of the top 10 against the run.

Week 8 RB Start: Blake Corum vs. Chargers

Both Kyren Williams fantasy managers and Williams himself are going to have to deal with the fact that Blake Corum isn’t going away. The third-year RB is proving to be more of an equal than a change-of-pace option to his backfield mate.

After a relatively slow start to the season, Corum has now put together three straight outings with at least 14 fantasy points. In L.A.’s Week 7 win over the Raiders, he out-carried Williams 17-16, racking up 93 yards and a touchdown. Corum will never be the elite receiving threat that Williams is, but he’s involved enough to produce RB2/FLEX numbers and should be started as such moving forward.

Week 8 RB Sit: Sit: Broncos Running Backs vs. Chiefs

It’s the first appearance of one of my favorite running gimmicks, where I suggest sitting an entire backfield or receiving corps! This time around, the Broncos’ rushers get the negative nod.

Let me first declare that I believe all three of Denver’s backs are talented, which is part of the problem. J.K. Dobbins and RJ Harvey were able to coexist productively for the most part, but the re-introduction of talented rookie Jonah Coleman has only muddled the waters further.

Last week, the backfield split saw Coleman lead the way with 11 touches, Dobbins check in second with six and Harvey receive five. It’s safe to say Sean Payton is going to ride the hot hand on a game-to-game basis, making this situation a certified fantasy disaster. That should continue against the Chiefs, who boast a top-10 run defense. Keep all of these guys on your bench and hope the next few weeks provide some clarity.

Those are my Week 8 RB start/sit fantasy picks. Stay tuned for more start ’em, sit ’em content over the rest of the week!
