WR Start/Sit Week 7: Fantasy Football Wide Receiver Picks

Published:

By: Jeff Pratt

Looking for Week 7 WR start/sit picks? Here are the wide receivers to start and sit in your fantasy football lineups. WR is the position with the widest range of potential outcomes, as there are a multitude of variables that factor into a receiver’s weekly production. Following key injuries across the league through six weeks, most fantasy managers have difficult lineup decisions to make. Let’s break down my Week 7 fantasy WR start/sit picks.

Fantasy Football Week 7 WR Start/Sit: Wide Receiver Picks

Wide receivers to start: DK Metcalf, DeMario Douglas
Wide receivers to sit: Michael Wilson, Rome Odunze

Week 7 WR Start: DeMario Douglas at Bears

The Patriots just can’t seem to stay healthy. New England’s injury woes haven’t resulted in a drop in overall performance, but it feels like whenever they get a weapon back offensively, they lose someone else. That was exactly the case last Sunday against the Jets, as A.J. Brown made his long-awaited return from IR, only for Romeo Doubs to suffer a shoulder injury that subsequently placed him on it.

Amidst the injury chaos, a surprise playmaker has emerged in recent weeks. Pop Douglas has stepped into a sizable role over the last two games, catching 11 of 13 targets for 151 yards and a whopping three touchdowns. That type of production will put you firmly on the fantasy radar, and Douglas should maintain his role as Drake Maye’s No. 2 receiver with both Doubs and Mack Hollins sidelined. Pop is a FLEX with clear upside on Thursday night against the Bears.

Week 7 WR Sit: Rome Odunze vs. Patriots

This Thursday Night Football matchup giveth, and it taketh away.

While I expect New England’s No. 2 receiver to put up strong numbers in this contest, the same can’t be said for Chicago’s WR2. Odunze has struggled with consistency in his third NFL campaign thus far, which is nothing new. The former first-round pick is extremely talented, but he can’t seem to get on the same page with Caleb Williams.

Odunze has scored double-digit fantasy points just once across six games this year, yet he still has a surprisingly high start percentage across major platforms. That should end this week. To make matters worse, Odunze will likely see a healthy dose of Christian Gonzalez throughout this contest. Leave Rome on your bench until he figures it out.

Week 7 WR Start: DK Metcalf at Saints

The Aaron Rodgers to DK Metcalf connection is finally coming to fruition in Year 2. Metcalf has been significantly more involved this season, amassing at least 16.5 fantasy points in two of his last three outings for Pittsburgh. The star wideout was especially dominant against the Buccaneers, hauling in 11 of 15 targets for 93 yards.

Rodgers has looked rejuvenated after a slow start to the year, and his No. 1 receiver should continue to be the main beneficiary. DK draws another fantastic matchup this week against the Saints. New Orleans just gave up 12 receptions for 165 yards to Malik Nabers, setting the stage for another WR1 outing for Metcalf. Consider him a must-start in Week 7.

Week 7 WR Sit: Michael Wilson vs. Broncos

The Michael Wilson WR1 experience has not exactly gone as smoothly as it did last year. With Marvin Harrison Jr. officially out of the equation, Wilson has only racked up a measly eight receptions for 62 yards over the last two weeks.

Trey McBride is obviously the real top target in Arizona, but it’s somewhat discouraging to see Wilson take a step back after earning the confidence of the coaching staff and front office as the top WR on the roster. We all know what he’s capable of in this elevated role, but a matchup with the Broncos isn’t what you want to see as a receiver looking for a bounce-back outing. Denver surrenders the ninth-fewest fantasy points to wideouts, putting Wilson in boom-or-bust WR3/FLEX territory. I’d rather play it safe, assuming you have other respectable options.

Those are my Week 7 WR start/sit fantasy picks. Stay tuned for more start ’em, sit ’em content over the rest of the week!
