DraftKings NFL Millionaire Winning Lineup Breakdown for Week 6

By: Zach Thompson

Week 6 brought us another exciting Sunday of DFS fantasy football, with stars stepping up and producing huge games across the board. Several exciting contests and last-minute heroics led to plenty of fantasy points, including an overtime thriller in Tampa. On the 10-game main slate, DraftKings featured another chance to win $1 million. In the NFL $2.75M FANTASY FOOTBALL MILLIONAIRE [$1M TO 1ST, $100K LEADERBOARD ELIGIBLE], an entry from user CMACXIMUS finished at the top of the leaderboard with a total of 210.5 FPTS, barely beating out the second-place entry from CodyJJohnson by 1.3 FPTS.

Here’s a look at the highest-scoring entry from the Week 6 millionaire contest:

Penix Perseveres

The entry from CMACXIMUS didn’t have many players with extremely low ownership, but it perfectly blended just the right amount of contrarian plays that delivered with some chalky options that also had big games. The player with the lowest ownership percentage in the top entry was Falcons QB Michael Penix Jr. (24.1 FPTS), who was in just under 5% of entries.

After being forced to leave Week 5 with a rib injury, Penix didn’t have an injury designation for his Week 6 matchup with the Bears, but he actually went into the medical tent in the first quarter. He was able to shake off whatever was bothering him, though, and put up the second-highest total of any QB on the main slate.

Penix threw for three passing touchdowns and 225 passing yards while adding two successful two-point conversions as well.

While Penix couldn’t rally the Falcons back to defeat the Bears, he did put up enough fantasy points to be a key part of CMACXIMUS moving to the top of the leaderboard.

On the other side of the same matchup, the entry included D’Andre Swift (23 FPTS) of the Bears, who finished with a pair of rushing touchdowns to go with his 44 rushing yards and 26 receiving yards on four catches. Swift posted the third-highest FPTS of all the RBs on the main slate and was only in 10.1% of lineups, making him another solid contrarian play who put up good numbers, just like Penix.

Injuries Open Doors

Two other key contributors to the top entry from CMACXIMUS had big games in the early window, partly due to injuries. The Panthers took on the injury-depleted Eagles in one of the early games, and they leaned heavily on Chuba Hubbard (22.1 FPTS), who finished with 120 rushing yards, one catch for one yard, and a rushing touchdown.

Another player whose production was impacted by injuries was rookie WR Germie Bernard (25.7 FPTS), who stepped up for the Steelers, who were without Michael Pittman Jr. (foot), Roman Wilson (finger), and Ben Skowronek (calf). Bernard, tied with DK Metcalf (20.3 FPTS) for the team lead with 11 catches, racked up 87 receiving yards. In overtime, he scored the game-winning touchdown on this six-yard strike.

Giants’ Targets

The entry from CMACXIMUS also included a pair of Giants who have been getting plenty of targets over the last few weeks. While Jameis Winston (8.48 FPTS) was replaced by J.J. McCarthy (17.3 FPTS), no matter who was under center, both Malik Nabers (31.5 FPTS) and Isaiah Likely (23.9 FPTS) stayed very busy.

Nabers posted the highest score of all players on the entire slate, hauling in 12 of his 15 targets for 165 receiving yards. He didn’t get into the end zone, but still finished with a monster fantasy score in just under 25% of entries in the Milly Maker. Likely was the highest-scoring tight end on the main slate, catching six of 11 targets for 99 yards, a two-point conversion, and a touchdown.

Whichever option the Giants go with at quarterback, both Likely and Nabers are getting so many targets that they should remain reliable contributors for fantasy lineups moving forward.

Chiefs Clamp Down Chargers

In the later window, this top entry from CMACXIMUS secured the victory with a trio of selections from the undefeated Chiefs, who were taking on the winless Chargers. With Rashee Rice (hamstring) inactive, Xavier Worthy (14.3 FPTS) had a solid game stepping into a larger role.

The real star of the Chiefs’ offense continued to be running back Kenneth Walker III (30.9 FPTS), who was the top-scoring running back of the main slate. K9 took 19 carries for 128 rushing yards and two rushing scores while tacking on 11 receiving yards on two catches as well.

Walker is currently the favorite for OPOY on DraftKings Sportsbook after his big start to the season, and he’s playing like a fantasy football MVP.

The Chiefs DST (15 FPTS) tied with the surprising Titans DST (15 FPTS) for the top defensive score on the slate, and the Chiefs were only in 5.9% of entries. They continued the Chargers’ offensive struggles by allowing just six points and also racked up four sacks, an interception, and a fourth-quarter fumble recovery.

The Bottom Line

On Week 6’s main slate, CMACXIMUS assembled just the right blend of pay-up stars and contrarian leverage plays to put up the top score of the week. Penix’s production in the early game with under 5% ownership was a huge part of the entry’s success, while the Giants’ pass-catching duo of Nabers and Likely each led the way at their position. Getting a huge performance from Walker and the Chiefs DST in the late window helped this entry finish at the top of the leaderboard for Week 6.

Looking ahead to Week 7, four teams are on a bye, with an early game on Sunday in Paris. For the second straight week, there will be 10 games on the main DFS fantasy football slate Sunday afternoon. DraftKings’ full slate of contests includes another chance for a huge top prize in the NFL $2.5M Fantasy Football Millionaire [$1M to 1st, $100K Leaderboard Eligible], which will award another $1 million top prize for a $20 entry.
