Jaylin Noel has quietly put together back-to-back double-digit PPR games, catching all five of his targets for 41 yards and a touchdown in Tennessee after an 85-yard day against Dallas. Now the Texans head to Jacksonville to face a secondary that has been giving up yards in bunches. Find out whether you should start or sit Jaylin Noel in Week 6.
Jaylin Noel Start or Sit Advice for Week 6
The matchup is the headline. Jacksonville allows 36.4 PPR points per game to wide receivers against a league average of 31.9, along with 203.8 receiving yards and 147.2 air yards per game, both well above the league marks of 150.0 and 102.5. Receivers average 15.0 yards per catch and 56.6 YAC per game against them, so the Jaguars are losing both down the field and after the catch.
The schedule makes those numbers more convincing, not less. Opponents have thrown for 277.2 yards per game against Jacksonville, 18% above league average, but that damage came from Cleveland, Denver, New England, Cincinnati and Philadelphia. Only Cincinnati brings a high-powered passing attack in that group. When Cleveland, Denver and Philadelphia are finding yards, the problem is the coverage rather than the opponents. The secondary is also banged up, with cornerback Montaric Brown missing practice with a hamstring injury and safety Eric Murray limited as he works back from a concussion.
Noel’s efficiency suits the spot. He is averaging 17.5 yards per catch and 13.4 yards per target, and he has caught 13 of his 17 targets. His production has climbed over the last two weeks, from 4.5 PPR points in Week 3 to 11.9 and 15.2 since, and it has come with Nico Collins back on the field.
The Biggest Fantasy Risk for Jaylin Noel in Week 6
Volume is the clear limitation. Noel has a 9.9% target share at 3.4 looks per game, and he drew just three and five targets in his two strong outings. Collins commands 8.3 targets per game when healthy, while Dalton Schultz and Xavier Hutchinson have 31 targets apiece. Noel sits behind all three in the pecking order, which means his recent production has leaned heavily on efficiency.
Production built on that few looks requires nearly everything to go right, and a single quiet afternoon can leave him in the low single digits. He has scored just one touchdown and has only one red zone target all season.
Jacksonville has also been stingy in the end zone despite the yardage. The Jaguars have allowed just two touchdowns to receivers, well below the league average of 4.5, and they have collected six interceptions.
There is a longer-term threat as well. Tank Dell has opened his 21-day practice window. Former first-round pick Marvin Harrison Jr. has also been added to the equation, only making this room more crowded.
Fantasy Outlook for Jaylin Noel in Week 6
Noel is a Start in Week 6 as a deep-league FLEX with upside. The matchup is one of the friendlier draws a receiver will see this week, his efficiency has been excellent, and the trend is pointing up.
The low target volume keeps him out of safer territory. Fantasy managers in deeper formats or those dealing with bye-week holes, with Minnesota, Miami, Cincinnati and Detroit off, can feel comfortable using him at FLEX. In shallower leagues, he is better left on the bench in favor of a receiver with a more reliable target share.
