Finding the right fantasy football WR sleepers can make a difference in Week 5, especially for managers dealing with injuries, bye weeks, difficult matchups or tough start-sit decisions. Aside from the obvious weekly starters, several wide receivers could be positioned for increased opportunities this week.
Each week, we highlight five wide receivers who have a path to outperform expectations because of their role, matchup, recent usage or opportunities in their offense. These picks can help season-long fantasy football managers looking for a sleeper or FLEX option, while DraftKings salaries are included for players who are also in good spots to provide DFS value.
Best Fantasy Football WR Sleepers for Week 5
Here are five fantasy football WR sleepers to consider for Week 5. Analysis for each wide receiver is below.
- Tre’ Harris, Los Angeles Chargers ($4,100)
- Antonio Williams, Washington Commanders ($3,800)
- Dohnte Meyers, Cincinnati Bengals ($3,500)
- Kendrick Bourne, Arizona Cardinals ($3,400)
- Efton Chism III, New England Patriots ($3,200)
Tre’ Harris, Los Angeles Chargers ($4,100)
Why he’s a Week 5 fantasy football sleeper: The 0-4 Chargers have a tough home matchup with the Broncos, and they’ll be without Quentin Johnston (chest) and possibly Ladd McConkey ($5,600; foot, questionable). Harris was already emerging as a solid fantasy option before all the injuries and has 50+ receiving yards in each of the last three weeks. He could be set for a huge workload against the Broncos, but the matchup against Denver’s secondary will be a challenge.
Antonio Williams, Washington Commanders ($3,800)
Why he’s a Week 5 fantasy football sleeper: Williams drew eight targets last week in London, catching three passes for 21 yards. He had 16.4 FPTS against the Eagles in Week 1, and getting Jayden Daniels ($6,000) back under center in place of Marcus Mariota (knee) should be an upgrade for the rookie. Stefon Diggs (hamstring) is out and Terry McLaurin ($5,300; hamstring) is questionable, so work should be available for Williams as long as the weather doesn’t make throwing impossible in D.C.
Dohnte Meyers, Cincinnati Bengals ($3,500)
Why he’s a Week 5 fantasy football sleeper: Meyers impressed last week against the Jagaurs, catching seven of his nine targets for 82 yards. The former CFL star was the team’s top receiver by the end of the day after Ja’Marr Chase ($8,100; concussion) and Tee Higgins ($7,100; groin/neck) left the game early. Both are questionable for this week’s matchup with the Dolphins and if either or both miss the game, Meyers could be a value steal while stepping up on the depth chart.
Kendrick Bourne, Arizona Cardinals ($3,400)
Why he’s a Week 5 fantasy football sleeper: With Marvin Harrison Jr. ($4,400) expected to be inactive before a trade, more targets should be available for Bourne going forward. He started the year with 15.5 FPTS against the Chargers but didn’t have any targets or catches last week against the Giants. With more opportunities, though, he brings very nice upside in a possibly high-scoring contest against the struggling Lions’ secondary.
Efton Chism III, New England Patriots ($3,200)
Why he’s a Week 5 fantasy football sleeper: After playing the hero in the Patriots comeback win over the Bills, Chism is in line for a big role in Week 5 against the Raiders with A.J. Brown (ankle) still out for at least one more week and Mack Hollins (calf) out as well. Chism will be the third receiver behind Romeo Doubs ($5,000) and DeMario Douglas ($3,500), but after coming up huge last week with the game-winning catch and two catches for 42 yards, he makes sense as a bargain basement sleeper this week.
