2026 Topps Inception Football: Checklist, top rookies and short prints

2026 Topps Inception Football puts rookie collecting front and center, with Fernando Mendoza leading Topps’ preview and a mix of short prints, autographs and memorabilia cards giving collectors several ways to chase their favorite players. The appeal goes beyond landing a signature: Inception’s layered artwork and bold colors make the design part of the draw.

But which rookies deserve a closer look, and which actually have short-print cards? Here’s a breakdown of the box information, checklist and featured chases, with a look at where the rookie selections differ.

2026 Topps Inception Football box breakdown

Topps has confirmed that 2026 Topps Inception Football will be available for preorder on October 5. A preorder time, price and standard Hobby box configuration have not yet been announced. We will update this guide when those details are available.

Who are the top rookies in 2026 Topps Inception Football?

Fernando Mendoza, Ty Simpson, Jeremiyah Love, Carnell Tate, Jordyn Tyson and Makai Lemon headline the rookie coverage in 2026 Topps Inception Football. All six appear in the base set, Launch inserts, Rookie Short Prints, Rookie Autographs, Rookie Autograph Variations and Inception Silver Signings.

Mendoza’s autograph lineup includes Provenance Patch Autographs, Rookie Jumbo Relic Autographs and Genesis, along with a Dual Rookie Relic Autographed Book featuring Raiders teammate Mike Washington Jr. Simpson, Love, Tate, Tyson and Lemon also have NFL First Milestone Autograph Relics, a subset that does not include Mendoza on the current checklist.

The following table compares their appearances in Dual Rookie Autographs, Dual Rookie Relic Autographed Books and NFL First Milestone Autograph Relics:

The two dual-signer checklists differ. Mendoza and Washington appear together in the relic book set but are not listed in Dual Rookie Autographs. Tyson is absent from both dual-signer sets.

Which rookies have short-print cards in 2026 Topps Inception Football?

The official Topps checklist identifies these 25 Rookie Short Prints:

These are a separately named subset, not a list of numbered base parallels. The checklist does not establish their exact print runs or pull rates, so the short-print designation should not be translated into an unsupported case-hit claim.

Base set, inserts and parallels

The base checklist totals 200 cards, with 50 rookies at Nos. 151–200. Launch also has 25 entries.

Topps highlights Hot Pink and Gold Electricity among the new parallels. For collectors who like building a player rainbow, those designs give the product another angle beyond autographs. Still, the full parallel structure and odds need to be checked before calling any color the easiest or toughest version to find.

Which autographs and relics stand out?

Silver Signings is one of the featured autograph attractions, with Topps advertising one-of-one inscription versions. Rookie Jumbo Relic Autographs combine a rookie signature with memorabilia, while Dual Rookie Autographs put teammates together on one card.

The veteran and retired-player selection adds another reason to check the product. Dawn of Greatness includes Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Barry Sanders and Jerry Rice. Immersion includes Caleb Williams and Jayden Daniels; Charged Particles includes Josh Allen and Puka Nacua.
