Drake London Start or Sit Advice for Week 3
The Falcons’ season has not started according to script at all. After announcing Tua Tagovailoa as the starting QB, the team lost him to injury before Week 1 and had to roll with Cooper Rush instead. They lost to the Steelers in Week 1, 20-13, and last week, they were trounced at home, 34-3 by the Panthers.
The offense has been a big letdown overall, and even their top receiver, Drake London, hasn’t been immune to the struggle. In Week 1, he caught just two of five targets for 29 yards, and in Week 2, he caught four of his five targets for 51 yards. Those totals are extremely disappointing for a starting receiver in almost all fantasy football formats, but is it time to bench London, or should you give him another week?
You’ll have to make the call on London early this week, since the Falcons play on Thursday Night Football against the Packers at Lambeau Field. Green Bay has been mediocre against receivers, allowing a total of 25 catches for 246 yards and three touchdowns to the position over their first two games.
The matchup is strong enough, and London has the elite talent to be a top starting receiver this week, but the question mark continues to be the offense he’s a part of. Atlanta is making a change at QB, going from Rush to Michael Penix Jr., who will be making his season debut.
Penix and London have shown a great connection in the past, with London averaging 6.5 catches for 91.9 yards per game in their 14 games together. He has also scored nine touchdowns during those contests. In their last six games together, London has hit 100+ yards five times and found the end zone six times as well.
The return of Penix may or may not fix everything that’s wrong with the Falcons’ offense, but it should at least be enough to make London a starting option once again. If you have London on your roster, you probably drafted him to be a starter, and with Penix back under center and this favorable matchup, he should return to being a top-20 option this week.
