Jadarian Price ($5,300) has been the Seahawks’ top back in his rookie season, but he exited Sunday’s 31-7 blowout win over the Cardinals with a chest injury and didn’t return. Coach Mike MacDonald provided an update Monday, clarifying that it is actually a shoulder injury for Price and MacDonald told the media “it’s intact and nothing serious, it seems like.”
While this was an encouraging update on Price, his availability for this Sunday’s matchup vs. the Commanders is still very much up in the air and if Price is inactive, which Seahawks running back should we be targeting for fantasy between Emanuel Wilson ($4,900) and George Holani ($4,500)?
Wilson vs. Holani
After Price exited last Sunday, Wilson was the Seahawks’ main rusher over Holani. Wilson rushed the ball 21 times for 92 yards (9.2 FPTS), while Holani only carried the ball four times for 13 yards (2.5 FPTS). Both saw usage in the scoring territory, though, as Wilson out-carried Holani in the red zone 7-3.
While Wilson dominated the ground work, Holani saw more action in the passing game, but he didn’t do much with the opportunities. Holani caught his lone target for two yards on 11 routes while Wilson failed to catch the one target he saw on his four routes.
Evident from this game, Wilson will be the Seahawks’ unquestioned lead rusher if Price is out while Holani will be the primary receiving back. Seattle leads the NFL in rush rate this season (53%) after finishing third a year ago (49%) and this club should continue to run the ball at a high clip this Sunday vs. the Commanders. Jayden Daniels (elbow) will be out for Washington and rightfully so, the defending champion Seahawks are a seven-point favorite for this tilt on DraftKings Sportsbook.
Letting Price have the week off makes a ton of sense for Seattle and if he is inactive, Wilson will be in line for 20+ carries vs. this Commanders defense that is allowing the fourth-most yards per play over the last two seasons (6.0). Holani could see around 10 touches in a full game sans Price and provide some value, but Wilson is without a doubt the better option that will bring real upside.
Wilson rushing for over 100 yards and finding the paydirt is a possibility if Price is out and Wilson will be a strong RB3/FLEX option in that situation. At only $4,900 on DraftKings, Wilson will also be a compelling DFS play for all formats if Price is sidelined.
