It’s time to get fired up for another monster Sunday of NFL action in Week 2! Eight games kick off at 1 p.m. ET for the second straight week, so get ready for the beautiful mayhem of another jam-packed NFL slate. For the second straight week, DraftKings Sportsbook is ready to give you more reason to get in on the action with huge bonus bets in the NFL Slate Breaker promo.

The NFL Slate Breaker promo will split a huge $2 million in bonus bets among all bettors who placed a token on the player who scores the first touchdown of the day. The first touchdown of the game slate is defined as the player who scores the fastest touchdown in the least time elapsed in their game, compared to the rest of the 1 p.m. ET start-time games. After opting in, players will receive a token to place on any “First Touchdown” bet with a $10 minimum. The slate breaker will pay out to bettors who score first in their game, and they’ll also earn a share of those bonus bets.

On Saturday night, I gave out my top picks for NFL Slatebreaker in Week 2, and in this post, we’ll focus on a few long-shot picks. These options are less likely to hit, but they bring huge payouts if they deliver. Picking long shots has an advantage, since the total bonus bets are divided by the total number of tokens. If 10,000 tokens are on the winner, each bettor would receive $200 in bonus bets, but if only 100 people place their token on the winner, each bettor would receive $20,000 in bonus bets. The fewer people have their token on that player, the larger the payout, so it’s important to balance the pick’s popularity with its likelihood of hitting. In Week 1, Chuba Hubbard delivered $7,300 in bonus bets to the 274 bettors that selected him.

NFL Slate Breaker — What You Need to Know

NFL Slate Breaker Long Shot Picks for Sunday, Sep. 20:

When making NFL Slate Breaker picks, we’re looking for players who can score the first touchdown in their game and in the opening few minutes. It could be a long score or a short score; it’s just about who can score with the least game time elapsing. There’s definitely some randomness in the coin toss and which team gets the ball first, but we’re looking for players with the potential to break a big play and score a long touchdown right away. The NFL Slate Breaker should definitely bring some extra mayhem as the action begins at 1 p.m. ET.

These three picks are long shots, but I think they have the potential to claim the NFL Slate Breaker title in Week 1.

1. Christian Watson First TD Scorer (+950)

The Packers relied heavily on the passing game in Week 1 with Josh Jacobs (personal) unavailable and the run game struggling. Jordan Love attempted 42 passes against the Vikings, while MarShawn Lloyd and Chris Brooks combined for only 20 carries. Watson was the go-to option in the passing game, hauling in six catches for 147 yards and a pair of touchdowns, including this long scoring strike:

Watson was second on the team with eight targets and led the Packers in catches and receiving yards. With Dontayvion Wicks traded to Philly and Romeo Doubs now playing in New England, Matthew Golden, Jayden Reed and Watson are the clear starting trio of receivers for Love and the Packers.

With a clearer picking order and workshare this season, Watson should continue to get plenty of attention from Love and should be in a good spot to succeed on Sunday against the Jets’ secondary, which largely went untested in Week 1 by the Titans but struggled after the Sauce Gardner trade last season. Watson will move all over the formation, but if he gets matched up with Brandon Stephens, he should dominate the matchup and possibly score a long, NFL Slate Breaker touchdown.

2. Dalton Schultz First TD Scorer (+1100)

As we saw last week, it doesn’t have to be a long touchdown to deliver a huge bonus-bet payout. Schultz could be a frequent target for the Texans this week and likely won’t have many tokens placed on him. He could get more work in Week 2 against the Bengals, though, since Nico Collins (hamstring) will not be available after a midweek injury in practice.

In Week 1, Schultz had four catches for 35 yards on eight targets but did not find the end zone. He was second on the team in targets behind Collins in Week 1, and last year he had 82 catches on 106 targets for 777 yards and three touchdowns, also second on the team behind Collins.

Schultz isn’t primarily a field-stretcher from his tight end spot, but he could score if the offense gets into the red zone quickly because the Texans’ defense forces a turnover or another big play. Last week, Darren Waller and Kenyon Sadiq both narrowly missed NFL Slate Breaker honors. So it’s definitely possible for a tight end to deliver the win, and if he does, the payouts would be huge.

3. DeMario Douglas First TD Scorer (+1500)

Another interesting long-shot with more work potentially coming his way is DeMario Douglas, who could step up as the team’s No. 1 receiver with A.J. Brown (ankle) on IR. Newcomer Romeo Doubs went catchless in his Patriots debut, while Douglas logged the second-most snaps at WR and led the team with seven targets. He caught five of those passes for 20 yards, but he was heavily involved even in the Patriots’ conservative game plan.

With Drake Maye looking to prove that he’s still the QB of the future in New England, look for him to bounce back with a big game in Week 2 against the Steelers. Douglas has a strong connection with Maye over the last two seasons and has scored six touchdowns combined, including a long score early in the game against the Saints last season.

Douglas was a popular waiver-wire target this past week, and he could pay it off quickly in Week 2 against the Steelers’ secondary, which went largely untested in Week 1 against Cooper Rush and the Falcons. Pittsburgh will be without Joey Porter Jr. (NIR/Conditioning/Back), which could open up more space for the Patriots’ pass-catchers, including Douglas.

He’s a long-shot play to score a touchdown (+370) and an even longer shot to score the first touchdown of the game. But if he delivers as this week’s NFL Slate Breaker, the bonus bets earned would likely be enormous.
