There are a handful of aces taking the mound Wednesday, from Rays All-Star Nick Martinez to Brewers rookie Logan Henderson and Orioles veteran Chris Bassitt. Can Martinez string together a fifth straight quality start? Will Henderson keep up his stellar second half? How will Bassitt look in his return to Queens? Here is our full breakdown of where we think each starting pitcher will wind up in the strikeout column.
Best MLB Strikeout Prop Bets Today (September 16, 2026)
- Tampa Bay Rays vs. Athletics: Rays RHP Nick Martinez 4+ strikeouts: While he only struck out 3 his last time out, Martinez went for 4+ K in each of his previous 6 starts – including a complete game with 5 K @ ATH a month ago.
- Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Milwaukee Brewers: Brewers RHP Logan Henderson 6+ strikeouts: Henderson has tossed 6+ K in 8 of his last 9, as well as 6 of his last 7 road games, on top of punching out 8 the last time he faced PIT.
- New York Mets vs. Baltimore Orioles: Orioles RHP Chris Bassitt 5+ strikeouts: Bassitt has notched 5+ K in 4 of his last 5 starts, pitching into the 6th inning in 6 straight, all while NYM has struck out 5+ times through 6.0 innings in 4 of their last 5.
MLB Strikeout Prop Bets Breakdown
Nick Martinez 4+ K (-160), Tampa Bay Rays vs. Athletics
Martinez was a first-time All-Star in 2026, thanks to his career-low 2.92 ERA. While his 5.3 strikeouts per nine innings look inefficient on the surface, he has gotten enough run that his strikeout totals have remained pretty consistent regardless. Before his three strikeout outing his last time out, Martinez had four-plus punchouts in six straight appearances. That includes his five strikeouts in a complete game against these same A’s, as well as his five strikeouts in a six-run, 3.2-inning showing against the Blue Jays. Whether or not Martinez has kept the opposing lineup in check, he has been a pretty good bet for at least four strikeouts regardless. Each of the last four starters who have faced the Athletics have posted four-plus strikeouts.
Logan Henderson 6+ K (-179), Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Milwaukee Brewers
After striking out four in his first two starts back from the IL in July, Henderson has gone for six-plus strikeouts in eight of his last nine. Dating back to the start of May, he has been a reliable 11-for-15 at Wednesday’s line. Henderson has already faced the Pirates this season, as well, racking up eight strikeouts on August 4. And while Milwaukee is heading to Pittsburgh for this rematch, Henderson has recorded at least six strikeouts in six of his last seven road appearances. The Pirates also average the fourth-most strikeouts per game in MLB.
Chris Bassitt 5+ K (+135), New York Mets vs. Baltimore Orioles
Bassitt has pitched into the sixth inning in each of his six starts since coming off the IL in early August, posting a 5.27 ERA and 5.9 K/9 before that and a 4.24 ERA and 7.7 K/9 since. To go along with his improved overall numbers, Bassitt has struck out five-plus batters in four of his last five starts. The Mets, meanwhile, have struck out at least five times through 6.0 innings in four of their last five – and never fewer than four times in their last six. And although he hasn’t faced this iteration of the Mets, he struck out nine, eight and eight in each of his three starts against the club since leaving the team in 2022.
