A 15-game MLB slate is on tap for Wednesday. For those looking to cash in quickly on a bet, nothing makes more sense than an NRFI. With that being said, there’s more to this one than meets the eye. Some pitchers thrive early, while others take more time to get settled in than others. Which NRFI picks are worth a closer look on Wednesday?

Brewers vs. Pirates NRFI (-150)
Logan Henderson has been a revelation for Milwaukee, blossoming into a valued member of this rotation. Over 88.1 innings pitched (16 starts), he’s delivered a stellar 2.34 ERA, 0.78 WHIP and 99 strikeouts (10.1 K/9). During his last time out, the right-hander held a league-leading Cubs offense to one unearned run over five innings. To boot, he’s produced a sparkling 91% NRFI rate so far. In comparison, a once-powerful Pirates offense comes into this one in a rut. Pittsburgh has scored 28 runs over its previous ten matchups, tied for worst in the majors during that stretch.
As for the home team, Jared Jones will get the nod tonight. It’s been an injury-plagued campaign for the righty, but there’s no denying his talent when healthy. Through 85.2 frames (18 starts), he’s put up a 4.10 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 100 strikeouts (10.5 K/9). Jones hasn’t allowed a first inning run in each of his last four contests, and enters this game with an 83.3% NRFI rate. Milwaukee wields one of baseball’s better lineups, working opposing arms with a contact-heavy approach. With that being said, the NL Central leaders have had their struggles during the early innings. This Brewers offense has a 20.27% YRFI rate on the road, third-worst in the big leagues.
Red Sox vs. Rangers NRFI (-125)
Jake Bennett has been an unexpected surprise for the Red Sox. The rookie has looked mature beyond his 25 years, beating opponents with superior command rather than high velocity. During 105.0 innings pitched (18 starts), he’s posted a 3.69 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 83 strikeouts (7.1 K/9). Texas’ offense does decent work against left-handed pitching. Still, this isn’t a group I’d be eager to back in the first inning. The Rangers have a 28.77% YRFI rate at home, eighth-worst in baseball. Bennett comes into this one with a phenomenal 88.9% NRFI rate as well.
It’s fair to say MacKenzie Gore has been a disappointment for the Rangers. In his debut season with the club, the southpaw is on the hook for a 4.62 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 172 strikeouts (9.6 K/9). With that being said, he’s been a much different hurler at home (3.36 ERA). In addition, the 27-year-old has held his own during the first inning (74.2% NRFI). Gore is riding a six-game NRFI streak coming into Wednesday. As for Boston, this isn’t the most enticing spot. The offense has scored just 32 runs over its previous ten games, fourth-worst in baseball over that stretch. To boot, the Red Sox have put up the sport’s second-lowest YRFI rate (24.50%).
