Jaxson Dart Start or Sit Advice for Week 1
Dart ($9,600 for Showdown) was an awesome fantasy option in his rookie season. Dart generated 20.7 FPTS per game in his 12 starts and he eclipsed 20 FPTS seven times.
Dart scored 0.6 FPTS per snap, which ranked fifth among all quarterbacks, ahead of the likes of Jalen Hurts, Dak Prescott and Trevor Lawrence.
What makes Dart so lethal is his dual threat ability. Dart averaged a decent 6.8 YPA and he threw 15 touchdowns to just five interceptions. As a rusher, the Mississippi product averaged 5.7 YPC and he rushed for nine touchdowns, which finished second among quarterbacks and is extremely impressive considering Dart only made 12 starts.
Dart also led all quarterbacks in rushes over 10+ yards (18), another outstanding feat considering he missed many games. Dart rushed the ball on 11% of his snaps and while the Giants want to avoid him getting hurt, Dart should continue to be one of the most active running quarterbacks in the league this season, under new HC John Harbaugh. Lamar Jackson notably led all quarterbacks in rushing yards in six of his eight seasons under Harbaugh in Baltimore.
Dart’s weapons also got an upgrade this season. Malik Nabers ($9,400) is back in the mix after he Dart only played 25 snaps together last season, and Darnell Mooney ($4,000) and Isaiah Likely ($6,400) both joined this offense as free agents this summer.
Dart should have an awesome fantasy season if he can stay healthy for most of this campaign. That is a big if, hence why Dart would slip to around the 10th round in drafts this summer, but this is Week 1 and Dart is fully healthy for a season opening matchup vs. the Cowboys, who allowed the second-most yards per play last season (6.1).
Dallas ranked second in pace and this defense was very vulnerable to mobile quarterbacks, giving up the most rushing touchdowns (8) and third-most rushing yards to the position (398). Dart faced the Cowboys in Week 18 last season and he finished with 20.4 FPTS.
This game’s total is a high 47.5 points on DraftKings Sportsbook and Dart should start his sophomore season in the NFL with a strong fantasy score in this plus spot.
