Rayan Cherki, Manchester City (£7.5m)
GW2 Opponent: Crystal Palace
Coming off the bench? No problem for Rayan Cherki. The Premier League’s most creative player showcased his impact on the game once again in City’s comeback victory over Bournemouth. Cherki entered the game in the 63rd minute and immediately provided a spark, assisting both of his squad’s goals to put them over the top. This was enough to earn the 23-year-old eight FPL points, leaving fans and fantasy managers wondering what he could do if given more minutes.
One way or another, Cherki is going to force his way into the starting XI sooner or later. While Enzo Maresca has a fondness for Phil Foden, it’s impossible to justify starting him over the playmaking wizard. Whether it’s on the right wing or as the 10, Cherki should be in the lineup this week against Palace and maintain that starting job for the forseeable future.
Mamadou Sangaré, Brentford (£5.5m)
GW2 Opponent: Leeds
A DefCon specialist who is also able to contribute in the attacking half? For £5.5m? Need I say more?
Sangaré exploded in his Brentford debut, racking up a whopping 14 points thanks to a pair of assists and 13 defensive contributions. The 24-year-old will be a locked in starter and contributor thanks to his defensive abilities, providing a very steady floor. If the Bees can put together similar offensive performances as their opener against Tottenham, there’s a path for Sangaré to drastically outproduce his price point. Brentford’s schedule is pretty favorable over the next month, suggesting the time to buy is now.

Cole Palmer, Chelsea (£9.5m)
GW2 Opponent: Brighton & Hove Albion
Palmer’s price tag made a majority of FPL users look elsewhere heading into the season, but the 24-year-old sent a clear statement to the league in Chelsea’s 2026/27 opener:

The midfield maestro produced a goal and assist in the Blues’ 3-2 victory over Fulham, playing 82 minutes and finishing with 13 points. Palmer looked incredibly sharp, a complete 180 from the sluggish, off-tempo player who stumbled throughout the prior Premier League campaign. If Chelsea’s offense is going to maintain its current form, Palmer is primed to become a top 3-5 player in FPL once again.
Joško Gvardiol, Manchester City (£5.5m)
GW2 Opponent: Crystal Palace
Some FPL managers may not love the idea of owning pieces within City’s revolving defensive rotation, but Gvardiol appears to be a locked-in starter for Enzo Maresca. Whether it’s LCB or LB, the Croatian provides too much value to leave on the bench. Gvardiol is one of the best defenders in England, but he’s also a deadly component of City’s attack, as seen in his 92nd minute winner against Bournemouth.
Gvardiol will consistently push into the final third when City is in possession, acting as a threat through the air or on the ground. There will be a clear path to outperform his £5.5m price every week. If you want a piece of Maresca’s defense, this is the one to choose.
