MLB Strikeout Prop Bets Breakdown
Bubba Chandler under 4.5 K (+123), Milwaukee Brewers vs. Pittsburgh Pirates
Chandler has shown some promise lately, posting a 3.00 ERA across his last three starts. However, he only cleared 4.5 strikeouts in two of his four July outings, meaning the under has now hit in 12 of his 21 starts and 7 of his 12 road starts this season. The 23-year-old righty has a tough matchup on his hands by facing the Brewers, even though he struck out six in 4.2 innings when he faced them on July 11. That – along with his five strikeouts against the Yankees on July 22 – came as part of a double-header. Monday’s game is a standalone contest, plus he will be pitching in Milwaukee rather than Pittsburgh. Chandler’s strikeouts per nine innings dip from 8.2 at home to 7.9 on the road, all while the Brewers average 0.33 fewer strikeouts per game at home compared to the road. Before Angels righty Walbert Ureña notched seven strikeouts on Sunday, Milwaukee had gone seven straight games without allowing an opposing starting pitcher to break 4.5 punchouts.
Logan Webb 5+ K (-159), Texas Rangers vs. San Francisco Giants
Webb only cracked five-plus strikeouts in one of his five starts last month, but he was on a 11-for-14 run before that stretch. He is still sitting at 12-for-19 on the season, including a 7-for-9 mark on the road. The fact that Webb has lasted at least 6.0 innings in nine of his last 10 starts is comforting, as well. The Rangers rank right around league average in strikeouts per home game, plus they have struck out nine, six, five and six times through 6.0 innings in their last four games.
Michael King 5+ K (+101), Arizona Diamondbacks vs. San Diego Padres
Despite King’s 7.8 strikeouts per nine innings being well below his 10.5 mark from the prior four seasons, he has hit five-plus punchouts in five of his last seven starts. Even his two unders in that span with both four-strikeout outings. King also started the regular season on a 9-for-10 hot streak in regards to this bet, and he now sits at 14-for-22 on the year. And for as notable as it may seem that the Diamondbacks average the fewest strikeouts per home game in MLB, that might not stand in King’s way. The righty struck out eight in 6.0 innings when he pitched in Phoenix in April. He has a 2.25 ERA, 0.833 WHIP and 9.0 K/9 against the D-backs this season, bringing him to a 1.05 ERA, 0.974 WHIP and 8.1 K/9 in his career versus Arizona.
