Ryan Weathers, New York Yankees vs. St. Louis Cardinals ($8,500) — Tarik Skubal is the shiny new toy for the Dodgers and the win equity is high. The ownership will also likely be high due to the hype of the recent trade. That said, he’s expensive and the Cubs have been very good against left-handed pitching this season, posting the highest wRC+. As a result, I’m going to stay in the midrange on this slate. Weathers hasn’t been great, posting a 3.77 FIP and a 19.3% K-BB%, but he’s put up 20.2 and 24 FPTS in the last two starts. St. Louis doesn’t strike out often as a team, but the Cardinals are also 29th in ISO and 24th in wRC+. I think there’s a chance he can come close to the production of the higher-priced options.

Grant Holmes, Atlanta Braves vs. Miami Marlins ($6,600) — The season-long numbers aren’t great for Holmes, as the FIP is 5.1 with a 9.5% K-BB%. The average exit velocity is 90.7 mph with a 9.7% barrel rate. He’s also put up single-digit FPTS in two of the last three games. That said, he’s put up double-digit FPTS in five of the last seven contsts. Granted, he hasn’t touched 20 FPTS, but he has thrown over 80 pitches in four of those starts. There is little upside with Holmes, but the price is cheap and we are hoping for something in the teens.

Matt Olson, Atlanta Braves vs. Miami Marlins ($4,800) — Olson has 31 home runs, 78 runs, 69 RBI and two stolen bases in 491 plate appearances. The average exit velocity is 92.6 mph, his barrel rate is 14.8% and the bat speed is 74.8 mph. Against right-handed pitching, the wRC+ is 146 with a .305 ISO. Ryan Gusto has a 4.46 FIP and 4.8% K-BB% against lefties.

Joc Pederson, Texas Rangers vs. San Francisco Giants ($3,100) — Pederson is sporting an 11.2% walk rate, a 22.8% strikeout rate and a .256 ISO. The average exit velocity is 91.7 mph with an 11.4% barrel rate. He’s a righty-masher, with 19 of the 20 home runs hit off a righty. The wRC+ is 141 with a .251 against right-handed pitching and he’s often batting leadoff. Blade Tidwell has been solid with a 3.51 FIP, 86.3 mph average exit velocity and 6.1% barrel rate. Against lefties, though, the FIP is 5.9 with an 8.3% K-BB%. Granted, he’s only pitched 12 innings this season, but last season in 15 innings with the Mets, the FIP was 7.47.

Brandon Nimmo, Texas Rangers vs. San Francisco Giants ($3,500) — Yup, we’re stacking against Tidwell. Nimmo has an average exit velocity of 92.2 mph with an 11.7% barrel rate. Seven of the 11 home runs have come off a righty. Nimmo put up 21 and 13 FPTS in the last two games and has gone for at least 20 FPTS nine times, with two of those over 30 FPTS.

Mike Yastrzemski, Atlanta Braves vs. Miami Marlins ($2,700) — Yastrzemski is on a little heater, putting up 16, 12 and 16 FPTS in the last three games. He hit two home runs over that span. On the season, the average exit velocity is 90.4 mph with a launch angle of 16.9 degrees. Against right-handed pitching, the ISO is .170 with a 99 wRC+. All eight home runs have come off a righty.
