House of the Dragon Season 3 has been a wild ride so far, with everything building up to a much-anticipated finale. The penultimate episode was pretty eventful in its own right, though, even if it didn’t follow the Game of Thrones tradition of centering the story on a massive battle. Who died in House of the Dragon Season 3 Episode 7?
There was no earth-shattering Ned Stark-level death in Sunday night’s episode, with the remaining main cast staying alive so far. That doesn’t mean that key figures escaped unscathed, however, to say nothing of the side characters who did die.
Lord Corlys Velaryon was alive to start Episode 7, coming off a cliffhanger in Episode 6. Jon Roxton successfully ambushed the Velaryon men and kidnapped Corlys, bringing him back to Tumbleton. Ormund Hightower tried to pitch Corlys on switching sides in the Targaryen civil war, but the Sea Snake didn’t appreciate the ill will towards his late wife’s family. As punishment – and to send a message – Ormund chopped off one of Corlys’ fingers and gifted it to his illegitimate son, Alyn of Hull. So Corlys isn’t dead, only down a finger.
There was a tense dragon battle with Syrax, Seasmoke and Caraxes teaming up against Sheepstealer, who hobbled away from the skirmish gravely injured but not dead yet. Daemon claimed he and Caraxes would finish the job, but we didn’t see the wild dragon die on screen. Rhaenyra’s dragon, Syrax, also took a lot of damage in the fight, although she was able to flee back to the Dragonpit in King’s Landing after separating Rhaena from Sheepstealer.
Speaking of dragons, Sunfyre is alive after all. Aegon’s dragon, who everyone thought died at Rook’s Rest in Season 2, awoke just as the king revealed himself to House Mooton’s men fighting for Rhaenyra. Sunfyre, sporting matching scars to the crippled Aegon, burned the forces alive. So that legion of nameless characters died this episode, resulting in a decently high body count.
The only other character who died was Adrian Redfort, who Rhaenyra sent to guide Alicent to Harrenhal. The member of the Queensguard was supposed to either assassinate Aemond or insure that Alicent did the job herself. Instead, Aemond stabbed Adrian to keep his location a secret. Alicent tried to poison her son that night by spiking his wine, but Aemond was able to stumble to Alys and beg for help before passing out.
