Tonight, the PFL is hosting an event for the second consecutive week! This week, the PFL is in the nation’s capital, Washington, D.C. The Vacant PFL Welterweight Championship is on the line in the Main Event as Thad Jean takes on Ernesto Rodriguez. Thad Jean was supposed to fight Shamil Musaev, but Musaev pulled out of the fight on Thursday due to complications with his weight cut. Then, Ernesto Rodriguez, who was originally scheduled to face Aaron McKenzie, stepped up to face Jean in the main event.Â
Check out my best bet below for Thad Jean vs. Ernesto Rodriguez at tonight’s PFL event.
Thad Jean Round 1 (+205)
Jean is 11-0 overall and 7-0 in the PFL and last beat Logan Storley to win the 2025 PFL Tournament Championship. Currently, he is one of the best fighters in the PFL and is ranked No. 7 in their men’s pound-for-pound rankings. Rodriguez made his debut for the promotion at PFL Pittsburgh in March, where he beat Masayuki Kikuiri by majority decision.Â
In this fight, Jean has a big physical advantage, as he is five inches taller than Rodriguez (6’2″ vs. 5’9″). On DraftKings Sportsbook, Jean is a big -850 favorite with Rodriguez as a +520 underdog.Â
Rodriguez has shown potential but doesn’t have the same resume as Jean has. Although both fighters are 28, Jean is battle-tested with victories over Jason Jackson and Logan Storley, two former Bellator Champions. With Jean being much taller, he should be able to find plenty of success in this matchup. Taking a fight against a new opponent on a few days’ notice is difficult for everyone, but it is likely Rodriguez would need much more time to prepare for someone as talented as Jean. Although Jean’s last two wins came by decision, they were against two tough veterans. Three of his last six wins have come in the first round, and five of his six career finishes have been in Round 1. That is why I’m taking Jean to win in Round 1 at +205.
