MLB Picks: Best Strikeout Prop Bets for Friday 7/24/26

By: Sam Connon

There are a handful of aces taking the mound Friday, from Pirates righty Jared Jones to Tigers star Tarik Skubal and Yankees standout Cam Schlittler. Can Jones stay hot and resume his upward trajectory? Will Skubal jump back into the Cy Young race? How will Schlittler look in Philadelphia? Here is our full breakdown of where we think each starting pitcher will wind up in the strikeout column.

Best MLB Strikeout Prop Bets Today (July 24, 2026)

  • Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Chicago Cubs: Pirates RHP Jared Jones 6+ strikeouts: Jones has hit 6+ K in 3 straight starts and is going against a Cubs lineup that has reached that mark through 6.0 innings in 5 of their last 6 games.
  • Detroit Tigers vs. Kansas City Royals: Tigers LHP Tarik Skubal under 8.5 strikeouts: While the two-time reigning AL Cy Young winner has gone over 8.5 K in 4 of his last 5, he was the beneficiary of some friendly matchups and is now facing a KC team that he has never punched out more than 8 times in any of his 16 starts against them.
  • Philadelphia Phillies vs. New York Yankees: Phillies RHP Cam Schlittler 7+ strikeouts: Schlittler has gone for 7+ K in 5 of his last 7 appearances, plus he is going against a PHI lineup that averages the sixth-most strikeouts per home game in MLB.

MLB Strikeout Prop Bets Breakdown

Jared Jones 6+ K (+100), Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Chicago Cubs

Jones, who missed the entire 2025 campaign, has slowly been rounding into shape since returning in late May. He notched six strikeouts in 4.1 innings despite getting shelled for five earned runs in his season debut. He owns a 3.28 ERA, 0.981 WHIP and 10.6 K/9 his his ensuing eight starts. Jones has gone for six, eight and nine strikeouts through his first three starts of July. As for the Cubs, they strike out the 11th-most times per game in MLB and also rank No. 11 when looking exclusively at road games. Their lineup has struck out at least six times through 6.0 innings in five of their last six games. Jones has finally shown he can last that long, even with the Pirates keeping him on a bit of a leash.

Tarik Skubal under 8.5 K (-148), Detroit Tigers vs. Kansas City Royals

Skubal has been heating up as of late, putting his six-week stint on the injured list behind him. He has notched exactly nine strikeouts in four of his last five appearances, after all. However, those five starts – as well as his previous one against the White Sox, when he struck out eight – came against lineups that rank top-nine in strikeouts per game. The Royals pose a different challenge, considering they average the seventh-fewest strikeouts per game in MLB. In 16 starts and 18 total appearances against Kansas City over the course of his career, Skubal has never once gone over 8.5 strikeouts. It is also worth noting that before this current run, Skubal came in under 8.5 strikeouts in eight of nine starts.

Cam Schlittler 7+ K (-172), Philadelphia Phillies vs. New York Yankees

Across his last seven starts, Schlittler has recorded seven-plus strikeouts five times. Even when he got chased off the mound after 4.2 frames his last time out against the Nationals, he still racked up eight punchouts. On the whole this season, Schlittler has gone for at least seven strikeouts in 12 of 21 starts. He has a relatively friendly matchup on his hands Friday, since the Phillies average the seventh-most strikeouts per game and sixth-most strikeouts per home game. Philadelphia struck out five times in 5.1 innings on Wednesday when they faced Eric Lauer, who had been averaging 4.8 K/9 in his 14 appearances leading up to that outing. They also struck out seven times in 6.1 innings against Justin Wrobleski, who had 6.5 K/9 on the year before Tuesday. At 10.6 K/9 this year, Schlittler is in a great position to overperform.
