Thanks to the breakout successes of Obsession and Backrooms, the 2026 summer box office has been defined by horror. Even Scary Movie, a horror parody, is the biggest comedy hit of the year so far. Evil Dead Burn hit theaters nationwide on July 10, opening alongside the live-action remake of Moana and the continued runs of Toy Story 5 and Minions & Monsters. So how much business did the sixth film in the cult classic franchise bring in amid a sea of family films?

Here is a breakdown of how Evil Dead Burn performed at the box office this past weekend:

Evil Dead Burn Box Office

Evil Dead Burn made $13.7 million at the box office between July 10 and July 12. For comparison, Evil Dead Rise opened to $24.5 million in April 2023. The Evil Dead reboot made $25.8 million when it made its debut in April 2013.

According to Deadline, Evil Dead Burn made $2.3 million in Thursday night previews. That cash is technically counted as part of the film’s $6.7 million Friday gross. Evil Dead Burn is on track for the fifth-highest domestic opening weekend by a horror movie so far in 2026, trailing Backrooms at $81.4 million, Scream 7 at $63.6 million, Send Help at $19.1 million and Obsession at $17.2 million. It beat out Lee Cronin’s The Mummy at $13.5 million.

Looking beyond the United States and Canada, Evil Dead Burn has reeled in an additional $11.3 million overseas. In total, the film grossed $25.0 million worldwide over its opening weekend. Evil Dead Rise finished with $147.3 million at the global box office, beating out Evil Dead‘s $99.0 million from a decade earlier. Sam Raimi’s original trilogy came from much more humble beginnings, starting with The Evil Dead making $2.9 million on a $375K budget in 1983. Even adjusted for inflation, that is still roughly $8.1 million. Evil Dead II also made almost all of its $5.9 million domestically in 1987, but Army of Darkness did net $10 million of its $21.5 million from international markets in 1993.
