San Diego Padres Team Total Over 4.5 Runs
Odds: -105 | Opponent: Arizona Diamondbacks
It’s been five days since I last wrote about Zac Gallen, so that means today, we’re betting against him. He continues to be abysmal and I can’t believe he’s still in the rotation. He wrapped up June with an 8.33 ERA with a .410 wOBA and a 6.00 FIP through 27 innings. He kicked off July the only way he knows how, allowing six runs on seven hits, including two home runs, to the Giants. The Padres are no offensive juggernaut but it’s to the point where Gallen looks as if he can’t get any team out. He has an identical .375 wOBA against both sides of the plate with 17 total home runs allowed. So yeah, I’m taking the Padres to score over 4.5 runs tonight.
Max Muncy 2+ Total Bases
Odds: +118 | Opponent: Colorado Rockies
Muncy will take on Michael Lorenzen tonight, which presents a great matchup for the Dodgers slugger. Lorenzen has been putrid against lefties, posting a .448 wOBA with a 5.87 FIP and nine of the 13 home runs he’s allowed. It gets even worse on the road, as he owns a .490 wOBA with a 6.27 FIP. Muncy is +118 to record 2+ total bases despite a .236 ISO. That ISO jumps even higher when facing a righty at home at .270. This feels like too good of a spot to pass up, especially with how bad Lorenzen has been in these matchups.

Jose Soriano Under 16.5 Outs Recorded
Odds: -105 | Opponent: Texas Rangers
Once upon a time, Soriano was an early Cy Young candidate. Through March and April, Soriano allowed just four earned runs through 42.2 innings, giving him an insane 0.84 ERA. That version of Soriano is long gone and he’s back to being the pitcher we’re used to seeing. Since May, Soriano has a 5.34 ERA with a 4.87 FIP and a .348 wOBA. He’s also gone under 5.1 innings in seven of his 11 starts he’s made over that span. I believe he’ll be under this number against the Rangers tonight as well. Soriano struggles against lefties and will see numerous lefties in this lineup tonight. The Rangers will likely have five or six left-handed hitters in the lineup.
