Tracking Mexico vs. England

Follow along as DK Network tracks the Mexico vs. England match! This section will be updated.

FT: Mexico 2-3 England. What a game. Mexico couldn’t create many clear-cut chances towards the end of the game, as England defended heroically with 10 men. The Three Lions will now face Norway in the quarter-finals.

90+11′: CHANCE. It’s a goalmouth scramble, and somehow it goes wide with the last touch from an English player.

68′: GOAL FOR MEXICO. Raรบl Jimรฉnez steps up and scores for Mexico. This game is wild. Mexico are back in it with 20+ minutes to go. Mexico 2-3 England.

67′: PENALTY FOR MEXICO. Harry Kane kicks Brian Gutiรฉrrez in the box and does not make contact with the ball. The ref goes to the monitor and gives the penalty.

59′: GOAL FOR ENGLAND. Harry Kane rifles it home, and England’s two-goal lead is restored. Mexico 1-3 England.

57′: PENALTY FOR ENGLAND. It’s a long goal kick that’s flicked on by Harry Kane to Anthony Gordon, who goes past the goalkeeper and is taken down in the process. The ref pointed to the spot with no hesitation.

52′: RED CARD FOR ENGLAND. Jarell Quansah goes into a challenge with his studs showing and catches the Mexican player high on the leg. VAR recommends the referee to go to the monitor and he sends him off. England are down to 10 men.

48′: OFF THE POST. England start the second half well, and it’s Nico O’Reilly who hits a volley at the top of the box that smashes off the post. An early warning sign in this second half for Mexico.

HT: Mexico 1-2 England. What a half of football. Mexico had more possession and more shots but they trail. Mexico had seven shots, three on target while England had three shots which were all on target. On DraftKings Sportsbook, England are currently -150 on the moneyline, while Mexico are +500. A draw is listed at +245.

45+3โ€ฒ: HOW?? The resulting corner is flicked on by Raรบl Jimรฉnez to Cรฉsar Montes at the back post and somehow his shot doesn’t go in from point-blank range. It got deflected by an England defender and goes out for a corner. I have no idea how this is only 2-1.

45+2โ€ฒ: CHANCE. How have Mexico not scored a second? It’s another cross into Raรบl Jimรฉnez, and it’s another amazing one-handed save from Jordan Pickford. Mexico are pushing.

45โ€ฒ: CHANCE. This is chaos. A ball is lobbed into Juliรกn Quiรฑones in the box and he lays it off to Raรบl Jimรฉnez, whose shot barely goes outside of the post. Mexico are very much alive in this game.

41โ€ฒ: GOAL FOR MEXICO. It’s that man again. Juliรกn Quiรฑones fires the ball into the roof of the net after a free kick gets cleared only to the penalty spot and Quiรฑones volleys it home. This one is becoming an instant classic. Mexico 1-2 England.

35โ€ฒ: GOAL FOR ENGLAND. Jude Bellingham again! What is happening? England recover the ball high up the pitch and the ball is played through to Harry Kane, who squares it across to Bellingham once again. Two goals in two minutes for the Real Madrid midfielder. Mexico 0-2 England.

35โ€ฒ: GOAL FOR ENGLAND. It’s against the run of play, but it’s Jude Bellingham for England. Bukayo Saka gets the ball on the right side, beats his man and puts in a great cross to an unmarked Bellingham. Mexico 0-1 England.

14โ€ฒ: CHANCE! It might be the save of the tournament from Jordan Pickford. A cross comes in to Raรบl Jimรฉnez who gets a header on target that’s going in to the bottom corner. Pickford somehow gets across and gets a hand on it to send it wide. That’s the biggest chance of the game so far.

1โ€ฒ: And weโ€™re off! We have kickoff in Mexico City, and this Round of 16 matchup is underway.

Kickoff Update: The start of tonightโ€™s game has been delayed due to lightning. According to FIFA, the game is expected to start at 9 p.m. ET.
