Best Bet for Egypt vs. New Zealand
- Egypt ML & Mo Salah to score or assist: Egypt got a great result in their opening match, getting a point against the group’s top team, Belgium. Egypt now just needs a win against either New Zealand or Iran to advance to the knockout stage. To do that, they will lean on their superstar and one of the great goalscorers of the past decade in world football, Mo Salah.
This is a massive match between Egypt and New Zealand. All four teams in Group G have one point after two opening draws in the group. If somebody can get a win in this match, they will almost certainly advance to the knockout stage of the tournament.
Here are the odds for the match:
Let’s dive into my favorite bet for this match.
Egypt vs. New Zealand Prediction
Egypt Preview
Things are looking great for Egypt heading into this match. Egypt, Iran, and New Zealand are all teams with no history of real success at the World Cup. Belgium was the clear favorite to win the group, while the other three teams were all in with a chance to make the knockout stage. It was thought that if any of those teams could get a result against Belgium, they would be in a great position to get out of the group. Egypt did just that in their opening match, playing great and getting a draw against Belgium. Now, they just need one win in their next two matches against beatable competition to make it out of the group.
New Zealand Preview
New Zealand has to be happy with a draw against Iran in their opening match. It was an exciting 2-2 draw, with Elijah Just emerging to score a brace for his nation. Alongside Chris Wood, those two form a dangerous attacking group for New Zealand. The Kiwis are vulnerable at the back, but can score goals against any opponent. That makes them an exciting team to watch, but also a dangerous team for anyone to play against. New Zealand has never made it out of the group stage at the World Cup before, and that would be a monumental achievement for this small nation if they could do it in 2026.
Egypt vs. New Zealand Pick
My best bet is on a same-game parlay of Egypt to win and Mo Salah to score or assist. Salah is renowned for being one of the best goal scorers the Premier League has ever seen. He has won it all for Liverpool over the past decade, but his performances for Egypt have been underrated. Egypt is not a high-level footballing nation, but Salah has helped bring them back to the World Cup. Egypt only made the World Cup twice in its history before Mo Salah, and has since made it twice with Salah on the team.
Mo Salah has 102 goal involvements in 113 career matches played, including an assist in the opening match against Belgium. That is nearly a goal involvement per match throughout his national team career. He is an elite finisher, but has really developed as a passer over the past couple of years as well. He should get the better of this vulnerable New Zealand defense and get his team the three points, creating a goal in the process.
Best Bet: Egypt ML & Mo Salah to score or assist
