Cleveland Guardians outfielder Chase DeLauter exited Saturday’s game against the Detroit Tigers early due to injury.

In the bottom of the first inning, DeLauter was replaced by a pinch runner. He was seen clutching at his side. Notably, he hit the outfield wall trying to make a catch earlier in the first frame, so it’s possible an injury could be related to that incident.

The young outfielder went 1-for-1 with a single off Tarik Skubal before exiting.

He will also be eligible for DraftKings’ Early Exit program.

DeLauter, 24 years old, is slashing .259/.335/.406 with a .740 OPS in his first full MLB campaign with Cleveland. He has 24 runs, 34 RBI and seven home runs on the year and has been one of the team’s hottest bats against left-handed arms, amassing an .855 OPS in the split.

The Guardians trailed the Tigers 1-0 when DeLauters exited Saturday’s game. Prior to the conclusion of the contest, they’re second in the AL Central at 38-33, half a game shy of the Chicago White Sox.
