  • Best Team Total: Phillies team total over 4.5 runs: Max Scherzer’s struggles before landing on the IL and Philadelphia’s left-handed power make this a strong spot.

Philadelphia Phillies team total over 4.5 runs (-110) vs. Toronto Blue Jays

Max Scherzer is scheduled to make his return to the Blue Jays rotation for the first time since April 24. Dealing with both a forearm and ankle issue, Scherzer completed two rehab starts in Triple-A. In those starts, he completed 6.2 innings, allowing three runs on five hits with nine strikeouts. Before landing on the IL, Scherzer hadn’t shown much success. Scherzer had a 9.64 ERA with an xERA of 6.83 and an 8.35 FIP through five starts and 18.2 innings. Both sides of the plate were hitting him hard, but lefties, as has been the case, were the dagger. They’ve tagged him for a .439 wOBA with a 9.26 FIP and five of the seven home runs he’s allowed. The Phillies should have at least five lefties in their lineup tonight to combat Scherzer. With Scherzer relying heavily on his fastball and the Phillies hitting it well, I think they’ll put up some big numbers tonight.

Bobby Witt Jr 2+ Total Bases (-127) vs. Texas Rangers

This matchup does carry some weather concerns, so make sure to check the latest before placing your bet. That said, I really like this 2+ total bases prop for Witt Jr against MacKenzie Gore. Witt Jr. has been posting some great numbers against lefties, with a .382 wOBA, a .232 ISO, and a 141 wRC+. While there are some rain concerns, the wind will be blowing out toward left-center field up to 17 mph. Gore is currently allowing the highest fly ball rate of his career at 43% as well as a 43% hard-hit rate.

Brandon Sproat under 14.5 outs recorded (-120) vs. Athletics

If this series has been any indication of how the ball will travel when the Athletics officially play in Las Vegas, then we have a Coors Field 2.0 on our hands. We’ve seen 31 total runs scored in the first two games, and tonight’s game total is 14.5 on DraftKings Sportsbook. Sproat has been struggling even before stepping on the mound tonight, posting a 6.17 ERA with a 5.46 xERA and a 5.64 FIP. For this bet to cash, Sproat needs to be out of this game before completing five innings. While that isn’t much, he’s gone under five innings in six of his 10 starts. Tonight is going to be a scorcher in Vegas, with temperatures just under 100 degrees and winds blowing out.
