A 15-game, 30-team slate is on tap for Wednesday across Major League Baseball. For those looking to cash in quickly on a bet, nothing makes more sense than an NRFI. With that being said, there’s more to this one than meets the eye. Some pitchers thrive early, while others take more time to get settled in than others. Which NRFI picks are worth a closer look today?

Nationals vs. Giants NRFI (-125)
Any time there’s a game at cavernous T-Mobile Park, we’re on NRFI alert. That’s especially true when two decent arms are taking the mound. For the visiting Nationals, it’ll be Foster Griffin toeing the slab. It’s been a stellar season for the right-hander, a key contributor on an otherwise mediocre Washington rotation. Through 72.0 innings of work, he’s notched a 3.63 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 69 strikeouts (8.6 K/9). Since 2025, he owns a solid 77% NRFI rate as well. As for the Giants, they’re averaging the fourth-fewest runs per game in baseball at home (3.70). San Francisco’s offense has also posted a 23.53% YRFI rate, fifth-worst in the majors.
It’ll be Robbie Ray making his 14th start of the season for the Giants this afternoon. It’s been an up and down 2026 campaign for the veteran hurler. Over 67.2 innings pitched, he’s posted a 4.12 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 63 strikeouts (8.4 K/9). However, he’s been far better at home (2.78 ERA) than he has been on the road (5.35 ERA). Washington’s lineup is among the best in baseball, but this isn’t a great matchup. Ray has allowed three earned runs or less in each of his previous three meetings with the team. That includes a six-inning, three-run showing on April 19th. Given how bad the Giants are at the plate, I’m willing to take a bit more of a risk in the top half of the inning.
Dodgers vs. Pirates NRFI (-115)
Shohei Ohtani will be on the hill tonight, looking to earn his first career Cy Young award. His numbers as a pitcher this season have looked like something out of a video game. Over ten starts, LA’s ace has put up a 0.74 ERA, 0.79 WHIP and 67 strikeouts (9.9 K/9). Unsurprisingly, he has yet to give up a first inning run. The Pirates have been potent at the plate this season, ranking sixth in runs per game (5.01). Still, against an arm such as Ohtani’s, that might not matter. The Dodgers’ hurler is simply playing at another level right now on the mound.
Opposing Shohei will be another electric arm in Jared Jones. When healthy, a big if, the right-hander is one of the league’s more entertaining pitchers. Throughout his two-year professional career, Jones has notched a 4.19 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 9.8 K/9 ratio. He’s also accounted for a respectable 75% NRFI rate. During his most recent appearance, the 24-year-old held Houston scoreless over five innings. The Dodgers, for all their firepower, aren’t the most intimidating offense early in games. Los Angeles’ 31.34% YRFI rate is only the 14th-best mark in baseball. Given that Ohtani is on the other side, I’m willing to bet Jones secures three quick outs in this one.
