What is Backrooms about?

Backrooms stars Chiwetel Ejiofor and Renate Reinsve. The film is a horror-thriller that audiences have described as claustrophobic and anxiety-inducing. The “Backrooms” is a liminal space where people begin to get lost and go missing. It’s hard to describe the film without giving too much of the plot away, but it is a horror film that relies on mood, atmosphere and setting as its driving force, rather than plot. The early reviews for Backrooms have been great, and it should continue the trend of great horror films in 2026 so far.
