America’s Got Talent keeps narrowing down its field of contestants, with a lot on the line after Tuesday night’s live semifinal performances. A dozen acts showed off for the judges and the entire country once again, with only six spots left in next week’s finals. It was up to viewers at home to decide who made it through and who went home, but everyone had to wait a full 24 hours to discover how the voting played out.

Who was eliminated on America’s Got Talent? Semifinals Live Updates & Recap
Magician Kameron Marshall, comedian Daniel Alvarez, comedian Cesar Dias, rapper Luke Taleno, magicians Young & Strange and singer Travis Garland were the six acts who got the bad news Wednesday night. Their respective journeys on AGT Season 21 are now over.
Who advanced on America’s Got Talent?
There were no Golden Buzzers in the semifinals, unlike the four quarterfinals. As a result, no one got to skip the fan vote this time around.
After a recap of Tuesday’s performances, Alan Cumming popped in to share a teaser for The Traitors: New Blood – another competition show on NBC. Comedic rapper Chris Turner, who was a contestant in Season 20, also returned for a guest performance. That killed time before the voting results themselves came out. Dog trainer Olivia Befus, aerialist Veronika Goroshkova, dog act Acro Canine Crew, dance group Come Here, dance group Royal Lasers and magician Geno Ploeger were the six acts who advanced to the final. They will all perform one last time on Tuesday, September 22, before discovering their final fate again on Wednesday, September 23.
They will join the Hundred Fingers magicians, singer and guitarist Nene Royal, singer Lai Noelle and robot act Unitree in the finals. Those acts got Golden Buzzers in the quarterfinals, surpassing the fan vote and semifinals in the process.
What happened to Simon Cowell?
One of the four celebrity judges, Simon Cowell, has not been on the panel since the week of Quarterfinals 2. Longtime SNL cast member Kenan Thompson served as Cowell’s stand-in for the Quarterfinals 3 performances, while former AGT judge Heidi Klum replaced Cowell for Quarterfinals 4. There was not a guest judge in Cowell’s place for the semifinals.
Cowell, 66, underwent a routine medical procedure in August and has been absent from America’s Got Talent as a result. According to Entertainment Weekly, Cowell had the surgery to address back issues. He initially started having back problems in August 2020, when he got in an electric bike accident and required fusion surgery.
