Alternate versions of Spider-Man have been mainstays in the comics for decades, but a handful of variants didn’t hit the mainstream until Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse in 2018. The multiverse-spanning hit, which went on to win Best Animated Feature at the Academy Awards, introduced general audiences to Spider-Man Noir, a.k.a. Spider-Noir. And now, after nearly eight years and a brief cameo appearance in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, the black-and-white superhero voiced by Nicolas Cage is making the jump to live-action for his very own TV show.

When does Spider-Noir come out?
Spider-Noir will premiere on MGM+ at 2:30 p.m. ET on Monday, May 25. All eight episodes of the series will air in succession on the premium cable network, leading up to the finale at 7:50 p.m. ET. The full season will not be available on the MGM+ streaming service, however. Spider-Noir will hit Amazon Prime on Wednesday, May 27 – presumably at 3 a.m. ET, as they do with the rest of their shows.

Who will show up this season?
Spider-Noir is a Marvel property, but don’t expect any kind of crossover with the mainline MCU. That being said, a few familiar faces are going to show up over the course of the series, albeit not in their usual Earth-616 forms. Here is a look at who we know is in the cast, as well as who they are playing:

There are additional actors who will appear in the series, such as Cameron Britton, Kai Caster, Michael Kostroff and Amanda Schull, although their roles have yet to be revealed.
What to expect in Spider-Noir
Back in Into the Spider-Verse, Cage’s character was an alternate version of Peter Parker who went by Spider-Man Noir. He lived in a monochromatic, animated universe during World War II. Based on what we know about Spider-Noir so far, the show does not appear to center around the same character or same continuity. Cage is playing Ben Reilly, a name typically reserved for the Scarlet Spider in the comics. He also goes by The Spider, in a nod to pulp heroes from the 1930s like The Spirit, The Shadow and The Phantom. As for the black-and-white aspect of the lead character and his home universe, this version seems much less self-aware. Still, it will be available to stream in both True-Hue Full Color and Authentic Black & White.
Spider-Noir will center around Reilly, a grizzled private investigator living in 1933 New York City. A femme fatale – Cat Hardy (the noir version of Marvel’s Black Cat) – can’t track down her missing friend, so she turns to Reilly to find him. Along the way, Reilly will run into mobsters and monstrous super-villains alike, from Sandman and Silvermane to Tombstone and Megawatt. To solve the mystery and survive the chaos, Reilly will have to once again become The Spider, an alter-ego that he seemingly retired following the death of his wife.
