UPDATE: The game has resumed play, and will play out.
With the game headed to the bottom of sixth inning and the Braves ahead 6-0, the umpires officially signaled a rain delay and stopped Sunday’s game between the Atlanta Braves and Boston Red Sox.
The Braves jumped on Brayan Bello early, with Austin Riley launching a three-run homer in the first inning. Atlanta added two more in the second on a Drake Baldwin walk and a Matt Olson groundout, then pushed it to 6-0 on a Mike Yastrzemski solo homer in the fourth. Grant Holmes has kept Boston scoreless, and the Red Sox have managed five hits through the top of the sixth.
Boston is 19-26 on the year while Atlanta is 31-15. The series is tied 1-1 after the Braves won Friday’s opener 3-2 and the Red Sox answered with a 3-2 win Saturday.
