UPDATE: Joel Embiid will play in Game 3.
Joel Embiid is questionable for Game 3 between the Philadelphia 76ers and New York Knicks. Nick Nurse said the former MVP will “give it a shot” but will get checked again prior to tip-off.
With the 76ers trailing 2-0, this is essentially a must-win game for Philadelphia. No team has overcome a 3-0 deficit in NBA history, but injuries may force Embiid to sit anyway. Had the 76ers won Game 2, it’s possible Philadelphia plays this more cautiously in a 1-1 series.
Despite Embiid’s absence in Game 2, the 76ers nearly won with Tyrese Maxey leading the offense. Paul George, Kelly Oubre Jr. and VJ Edgecombe all stepped up, but it wasn’t enough. They’ll hold the advantage in Game 3 even without Embiid as they play at home, and the Knicks are without OG Anunoby.
New York leads 2-0 heading into Game 3. The 76ers are 3.5-point favorites on DraftKings Sportsbook. The Knicks are +136 underdogs, with the game total set at 214.5.
