UPDATE: Kyler Murray will not return to today’s game between the Vikings and the Packers after having been evaluated for a concussion.
Kyler Murray is being evaluated concussion after he went down after a brutal hit to the head after a scramble against Green Bay on Sunday. Officials flagged the play for unnecessary roughness while Murray stayed down in the fencing position with his helmet knocked off. A grisly scene to be sure, and a particularly tragic one when you consider this is the first start of Murray’s Vikings tenure. He’d already thrown a pick on an ill-advised heave on his very first attempt.
Murrayโs status following the hit remains unclear, but he’s officially headed to the locker room. Carson Wentz entered Sunday as Minnesotaโs backup, and J.J. McCarthy serves as the emergency third quarterback. If Murray cannot continue, Wentz would be next in line to run Kevin OโConnellโs offense.
For now, we await for more news, and hope good things for Kyler.
