The Blue Jays and Rays play the final game of their three-game series on Wednesday, May 6.

Tampa Bay is a -131 moneyline favorite, while Toronto is +109 on DraftKings Sportsbook. The game total is set at over/under 7.5 runs.

Let’s get into a pick and prediction for this Blue Jays vs. Rays game.

Blue Jays vs. Rays prediction, preview

It hasn’t been a hot start for the reigning American League champions. Toronto is 16-20 and on a three-game losing streak heading into Wednesday’s contest. The Blue Jays have already lost this series vs. AL East rival Tampa Bay, but they can still come away with a victory before heading home for a six-game stretch.

Wednesday’s matchup features two left-handed pitchers who peaked years prior. The Blue Jays are starting Patrick Corbin, who hasn’t held a sub-4.00 ERA since the 2019 season. He has a 3.65 thus far, but his 4.32 FIP indicates he’s been a bit lucky to start the season. After six straight struggling seasons, it’s unlikely he returns to All-Star form.

On the other side, Shane McClanahan is on the mound. The 29-year-old missed the 2024 and 2025 seasons due to injury, interrupting what had been a terrific start to his MLB career. He’s been working his way back to full strength this season, posting back-to-back scoreless outings.

His biggest weakness right now is his inability to pitch deep into games. His last outing was 6.0 innings, but that was also his only game beyond 5.0 innings. The bright side is his recent success and the Blue Jays’ lack of offense. Toronto ranks 23rd in runs per game (4.08).

Blue Jays vs. Rays Pick, Best Bet

Corbin and McClanahan have been solid thus far, but it’s going to take a larger sample size to officially say they’re back in All-Star form. Ultimately, I have more confidence in McClanahan reaching that level, especially in this game against Toronto.

The Blue Jays lost the first two games of the series, while the Rays are 11-1 over their last 12 games.

Best Bet: Tampa Bay Rays ML (-131)
