Minnesota Twins starting pitcher Joe Ryan left today’s matchup after just nine pitches and one out recorded. He struck out the first hitter and walked the second before calling for a trainer and leaving alongside of him due to right elbow soreness. Ryan’s final fastball thrown clocked at just 90.9 miles per hour, below his 92.6 average and with him looking uncomfortable while throwing it.

Per DraftKings Network’s early eligibility rules, all Ryan bets will be refunded. The Twins standout pitcher did not face the required five batters for this to be the case.

This is a tough break for the Twins. The former All-Star right-hander entered today’s matchup with a 3.76 ERA, a 1.043 WHIP and with 39 strikeouts and 31 hits allowed across his 34.1 innings pitched. He earned his first All-Star appearance last season and was looking to build off this, but both he and the organization will brace for whatever the extent of this injury is.

Minnesota entered the season with a win total set at 79.5 on DraftKings Sportsbook. They are off to a 14-20 start to the season and sit in last place in the AL Central.
