We are running out of regular season, people. There’s just two weeks left for most baseball teams, and that’s going to mean the end of these huge MLB DFS slates — maybe for even longer than we’d like to admit. So, I guess what I’m trying to say is cherish these moments.

SP Andre Pallante, St. Louis Cardinals vs. San Francisco Giants, $8,000
Pallante isn’t the usual archetype of pitcher I’m attracted to in DFS. The 27-year-old may have a 3.45 ERA and a 3.64 FIP, but his 11th percentile strikeout rate (16.9%) just leaves so much to be desired. With that said, we don’t exactly have the strongest class of arms below $8,000 on Tuesday evening. Shooting for low ratios and a good matchup might make the most sense.
It certainly helps Pallante’s case that he’s in possession of a sterling 1.99 ERA since July 25. That’s a span of 40.1 innings where he’s limited opponents to a microscopic 1.7% barrel rate. He might legitimately be real-life good. A meeting with the Giants is equally appealing. San Francisco ranks 26th in wRC+ since the All-Star break (92), and that was with Rafael Devers (core) producing at an MVP level at the plate. Now that the infielder is on the IL, the Giants’ lineup is feckless.
3B Coby Mayo, Baltimore Orioles at New York Mets, $4,000
I don’t understand how Mayo’s price tag is this low for a matchup with a left-handed pitcher. It doesn’t even matter who the lefty is at the point. It could be prime Randy Johnson and I’d still have to think about giving Mayo a look in my lineups. The infielder leads all qualified hitters in 2026 in home runs (16), ISO (.416) and wRC+ (210) against LHPs. It’s not especially close in most of those categories, too.
The southpaw that’ll be opposing Mayo and the Orioles on Tuesday? Sean Manaea ($7,500). In general, the veteran has underwhelmed this season, registering a 16th percentile xERA (4.97) to go along with surrendering a fifth percentile opponent barrel rate (11.0%). However, things only get worse when you isolate Manaea’s numbers as a starter. He’s giving up 1.59 home runs per nine when in the Mets’ rotation. It’s bad.
OF Austin Hays, San Diego Padres at Colorado Rockies, $3,800
It feels like every journeyman hitter and pitcher has been on the Padres at some point in 2026, and Hays very much falls into that bucket, as he signed with San Diego in early August after starting this season with the White Sox. Still, it’s not like Hays doesn’t have any value left to give. It’s not the largest sample in the world, but in 46 plate appearances against LHPs, Hays is slashing .349/.370/.488 with a 131 wRC+. There’s a reason he was batting sixth in the Padres’ lineup on Saturday when they faced off with a southpaw.
If that’s the case again on Tuesday, Hays becomes very, very desirable to prospective DFS owners. Not only is this contest in Colorado, but Hays will be opposed by a fresh off the IL Kyle Freeland ($5,500). The veteran has surrendered a whopping 2.15 home runs per nine to RHBs in his 23 starts with the Rockies this year.
