What happened to George Springer? Live injury updates for Blue Jays vs. Twins on 5/2/26

Toronto Blue Jays outfielder George Springer exited Saturday’s game against the Minnesota Twins early due to injury.

In the bottom of the third, Springer was up at bat when he was hit in the foot by an 88 mph slider. He fell to the ground before getting up and limping off the field. No further update on his status has been provided yet.

However, it’s worth noting Springer had only just returned from a toe fracture on the same foot that was hit on Saturday. Fingers crossed, but this could be a significant issue if the same issue is re-aggravated.

The veteran outfielder went 0-for-1 in his two plate appearances.

It’s been a somewhat rough campaign for the 26-year-old, who’s appeared in just 18 games so far. Springer is slashing .212/.307/.364 in that span with four runs, seven RBI and two home runs.

The Blue Jays are dealing with quite a few injuries which have held them back following last season’s World Series appearance. At 15-17 they’re tied for third in the AL East and remain six games shy of first.

Stay tuned to DK Network for the latest injury updates as they become available.
