The PGA TOUR stays deep in the heart of Texas for one more tournament before heading to Augusta for the Masters. This week’s Valero Texas Open at TPC San Antonio gives players one last chance to win their way into the field next week, and it also serves as a great tune-up for those already qualified. The course is set to mimic Augusta National in many ways, and windy conditions could make it play very difficult relative to par. If you’re teeing it up at this event with some conservative lineups designed for cash games, my three top fantasy golf cash plays to consider are Maverick McNealy ($9,000), Alex Noren ($8,700) and Brian Harman ($7,900).

Pivot plays for tournament lineups are usually more aggressive, while fantasy golf cash game picks are safer with higher floors and lower risk. The picks in this post generally have higher ownership than my pivot plays, but they are good selections for contests where the uniqueness of your lineup is less important. Think of cash game picks as lying back and playing a par 5 as it was designed, taking three shots before reaching the green, searching for a solid birdie. Tournament picks are like going driver off the deck to try to reach the green in two — more reward if it works, but much more risk, as well.

Maverick McNealy ($9,000)
McNealy finished T3 last year at the Valero Texas Open, when windy conditions made the Final Round especially difficult. With plenty of wind in this week’s potential outlook as well, McNealy is precisely the kind of steady producer that makes sense to build cash game lineups around, especially since his salary is so reasonable at only $9,000.
In the final event of the 2024 season, McNealy got his breakthrough PGA TOUR victory at The RSM Classic. In 2025, he had a second-place finish, three third-place finishes, and 12 top-25 finishes in his 26 events. He’s continued his consistent contributions with four top-25 finishes in his seven events this year, with a missed cut at The Genesis his only real letdown. He bounced back with a T13 at the Arnold Palmer and a T32 at THE PLAYERS in his last two tournaments.
McNealy ranks in the top 25 in Strokes Gained: Off-the-Tee and Strokes Gained: Approach in the last three months, and has converted that into ranking eighth in Strokes Gained: Tee-to-Green and sixth in Total Strokes Gained.
He comes back to TPC San Antonio with solid form and is 3-for-3 making the cut at this event, highlighted by last year’s third-place finish. At only $9,000, he’s my favorite spot to start my fantasy golf cash plays this week.
Alex Noren ($8,700)
Noren is also the kind of par-producer who pays off at TPC San Antonio. The 43-year-old veteran from Sweden brings both a high floor and a high ceiling as he returns to this event for the first time since 2024.
He skipped the tournament last year but finished T14 in 2024 and T1 in 2023. He is still looking for his first PGA TOUR win, but he has 12 wins on the DP World Tour, including two last fall. Noren also won the Betfred British Masters and the BMW PGA Championship before also placing in the top 20 in Abu Dhabi and at the DP World Tour Championship. He lost in a playoff at the unofficial Hero World Challenge to end 2025 on the PGA TOUR.
He started slower in 2026 with a pair of missed cuts at The American Express and the Farmers Insurance Open, but he seemed to round into form with a T29 at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, a T12 at The Genesis Invitational and a T24 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. In his most recent event, he made the cut and finished T32 at TPC Sawgrass.
Noren ranks in the top 20 in the field in Strokes Gained: Tee-to-Green and Strokes Gained: Putting over the last three months. He isn’t an especially big hitter, but he is accurate, which is even more important this week at TPC San Antonio.
Noren is the kind of steady play to count on in fantasy golf cash game lineups, and he could be back in contention this week if things trend in his direction.
Brian Harman ($7,900)
Harman is the defending champ this week, after starting last season with back-to-back rounds of 66 and then holding on down the stretch in extremely windy conditions. His winning score of -9 was less than half that of Akshay Bhatia’s -20 the previous year, but the wind in Texas can make all the difference! With more wind in play this week, Harman is a solid play once again, especially in cash games where his consistency plays especially well.
The 39-year-old lefty from Georgia has four PGA TOUR career wins, with his biggest win in 2023 at The Open Championship, where he also handled the weather better than everyone else. Harman started this season a little slowly but has found his momentum lately with a T19 at Pebble Beach and a T11 at THE PLAYERS Championship in his most recent event.
Harman has played eight times in his career at TPC San Antonio , finishing with five top-25 finishes, including his big win last year. If he can carry over his strong work around the green and on approach from TPC Sawgrass, he could step right back into the mix again this year in San Antonio, especially if it gets windy as expected.
