New York Mets Team Total Over 4.5 runs (+100) vs. St. Louis Cardinals
Monitor the weather here, but if this game plays, the Mets are in a strong spot. I do like the Mets to score at least five runs against the Cardinals and Matthew Liberatore. To his credit, Liberatore had a good start to open 2026, allowing just one run through five innings. However, he did allow seven hits and had a FIP of 6.20, so it easily could have been a lot worse. This Mets lineup is excellent against lefties and particularly the four-seam fastball. Dating back to last season, today’s expected lineup has a combined .379 wOBA with a .232 ISO against that pitch.
When Liberatore departs, he’ll give way to a bullpen that’s already been tagged for a 6.43 ERA with a 4.24 FIP and a 5.1 BB/9. They should clear this 4.5 total this afternoon if this game can be played.
Jackson Merrill 2+ Total Bases (+109) vs. San Francisco Giants
I like this spot a lot for Merrill going against Adrian Houser and the Giants. Houser will be making his first start of the season after throwing 13 innings during Spring Training. Houser is a contact pitcher who struggles against left-handed bats. Last season, he posted a .351 wOBA with a 4.86 FIP and eight of the 10 home runs he allowed against them. Houser mainly throws a sinker as his main pitch, and Merrill had a .354 wOBA with a .320 ISO against it last season. I like this spot for him, and all the lefties in the Padres lineup this afternoon.
Zac Gallen under 16.5 outs recorded (-108) vs. Detroit Tigers
I can’t quit this Tigers offense. They’ve been printing money for bettors who’ve been taking their overs during this first week of the season. I like them to keep the offense rolling this afternoon against the Diamondbacks starter Zac Gallen. Gallen had a tough matchup to start the season against the Dodgers and only went four innings in that one, allowing four runs and throwing 76 pitches. Today doesn’t get much easier against a Tigers team that crushes fastballs, which Gallen throws nearly 50% of the time. I have a hard time believing that Gallen will make it deep into this game, as he needs to record an out in the sixth inning for this bet to lose.
