Following a solid third episode that featured the departure of Q Burdette, Survivor 50 returned Wednesday night with the fourth installment of the show’s most anticipated season yet. Including spoilers for who was voted out, let’s break down Survivor 50 Episode 4: Knife to the Heart.
Survivor 50 Episode 4 Recap
Ozzy the… Strategist?
Episode 4 began on the Vatu beach following the departure of Q. Stephenie, who was left out of the previous vote, made her rounds to thank the tribe for keeping her. Meanwhile, Ozzy, fresh off arguably the most strategic move of his Survivor career (with the help of Emily) was already back to the drawing board. The next target? Angelina, with the goal of forcing his way into Mike White’s inner circle.
At Cila, Charlie’s need to take down Rizo as a form of inner redemption for Maria’s betrayal of him in Season 46 was seemingly growing by the hour. It’s safe to say Charlie’s game has been drastically thrown off by this indirect, personal vendetta.
At Kalo, Aubry and Genevieve’s feud continued to simmer. Amidst a search by both of them, Genevieve found her second Billie Eilish Boomerang Idol. This time, Rizo was the lucky recipient.
A Little Bit of Chicken Fried
Prior to an early challenge, Jeff Probst brought out celebrity guest Zac Brown to greet the contestants. Along with immunity, Brown was part of the reward for the first-place team.
During the challenge, the loss of Q hurt Vatu right away, as they clearly lacked strength compared to the other two tribes. In the end, they were not able to catch up, sending Ozzy and company right back to tribal council. Meanwhile, Kalo won the challenge and an afternoon at the Sanctuary with Zac Brown. The contestants were serenaded by the musician while eating fish that he caught for them.
Operation Save Angelina
Back at Vatu, discussions of breaking up the David vs. Goliath trio continued, with Angelina re-emerging as the clear target. This led Mike White to try to salvage the situation (and his closest ally), throwing out Emily.
This put Christian in a hard spot, as he was stuck between his fellow David vs. Goliath contestants and the bond he had formed with Emily thus far in the game. Upon reflection, the robotics professor realized that Mike was attempting to manipulate him. With his perspective cleared, Christian devised a plan with a new target: Mike. Of course, Emily immediately spilled the beans to Ozzy (which was not a part of the plan), forcing Christian to re-consider if he could actually trust her as a long-term ally.
Heading into tribal council, Emily, Angelina and Mike were all on the block. After tense, ambiguous discussions, the Vatu members voted and Christian made his decision. Ultimately, Mike’s torch was snuffed, becoming the fourth person voted out and fifth person to exit Survivor 50.
