Patriots WR Kayshon Boutte is one option that brings a good ceiling but also has some risk involved.

Boutte’s big season
The Patriots drafted Boutte out of LSU in the sixth round in the 2023 NFL Draft. He only played five games and had two catches as a rookie before emerging as a more involved option last year in Drake Maye’s rookie season. He finished with 43 catches for 589 yards in 15 games in 2024, scoring three touchdowns.
With Maye and the offense taking a huge step forward this year, Boutte became the team’s primary deep threat, while Stefon Diggs stepped in to carry more of the target load as the team’s No. 1 receiver. In 14 games, Boutte had 33 catches and 551 yards while scoring six touchdowns. Even with one fewer game, his yardage only dropped 30 yards, but the extra scores made him a strong fantasy option.
In the playoffs, Boutte caught all four of his targets for 66 yards against the Chargers in the Wild Card round before hauling in a critical one-handed touchdown against the Texans that pushed the Patriots to the AFC Championship.
In the AFC Championship, Boutte only had one catch for six yards against the Broncos. The wind and snow in the second half made passing almost impossible, but in good news for his future prospect, he still tied with Diggs for the team lead in targets.
The Super Bowl Matchup
The Seahawks’ “Dark Side” defense has been excellent all season, especially against wide receivers. Opposing receivers averaged the fifth-fewest fantasy points per game when facing Seattle and only scored 14 touchdowns in 19 games this season.
Both Puka Nacua and Davante Adams had touchdowns against the Seahawks’ defense in the NFC Championship game, but before that, the Seahawks hadn’t allowed a receiver touchdown in three straight games. They’ve only allowed one receiver touchdown except to the Rams since Week 12.
The Patriots are sure to dream up some ways to get Boutte a chance to make big plays over the top, though, and if he converts those opportunities, he has a high ceiling as a home-run threat.
Kayshon Boutte Fantasy Outlook
Boutte has a $5,600 salary in a FLEX spot and an $8,400 salary as a Captain’s Pick. He had 16.5 fantasy points against the Texans, but he has been held under 10 fantasy points in four of his six games since his team’s Week 14 bye week. He only had 1.6 fantasy points last week against the Broncos and under five fantasy points in his last two regular-season games, showing he has a very low floor to go with his high ceiling.
Boutte went off for an even bigger total with 26.3 fantasy points in a two-touchdown game against the Saints in Week 6, so there’s lots of upside to chase if you think he can hit on those big plays. He leads the Patriots in targets and routes run this postseason and ranks No. 1 in the NFL in QB Rating when targeted.
Especially if the Seahawks try to take away the run game and force Drake Maye to throw the ball a lot, look for Boutte to be busy on Sunday.
