Hunter Henry’s role in New England’s passing game
Henry joined the Patriots in 2021 after spending his first three seasons with the Chargers. He’s been a consistent contributor since moving to New England, working with Mac Jones, Bailey Zappe, and Brian Hoyer before the team drafted Drake Maye ahead of the 2024 campaign.
That year, Henry finished as the Patriots’ leading pass-catcher with 674 receiving yards on a team-high-tying 66 catches. He has a very strong rapport with Maye and continued to be a reliable go-to option as the QB blossomed in his second season.
While Stefon Diggs took over as the WR1, Henry finished second behind the star wideout with 60 catches on 87 targets for 768 yards. He remained Maye’s favorite end zone target, hauling in a team-high seven touchdowns during the regular season.
Henry had two touchdowns and 29 fantasy points in the team’s Week 3 loss to the Steelers, his biggest fantasy game of the year. He had another strong performance in Week 12 against the Bengals, catching seven passes for 115 yards and a touchdown — producing 27.5 FPTS.
Henry finished the season with double-digit fantasy points in three straight games, finding the end zone against the Ravens and the Jets.
He started the playoffs with a standout performance in the Wild Card round against his former team. Henry caught three passes for 64 yards and a touchdown, producing 15.4 fantasy points in the 16-3 win.
In his last two games, though, his role has decreased. He had one catch for five yards against the Texans before logging two receptions for 12 yards in the snowy AFC Championship against the Broncos. The Patriots’ passing game has taken a backseat in both those games, but Henry and Maye must rediscover their connection in the Super Bowl.
Henry’s Super Bowl Matchup
The Seahawks allowed the 11th-most fantasy points per game to opposing tight ends this season, compared to the sixth-fewest points to wide receivers.
Tight ends have racked up at least 59 receiving yards in six of Seattle’s last nine games, including each of its two playoff matchups. The position has scored six touchdowns against the Seahawks this season, including three since week 10.
Hunter Henry Fantasy Outlook
Henry has a $7,000 FLEX salary and is priced at $10,500 as a Captain’s Pick. Using him in your Captain’s Pick spot at that salary almost requires him to find the end zone to pay off. If he does hit paydirt, though, he would leave lots of salary cap space for your FLEX spots.
Henry seems to be a better fit for a FLEX spot, since he brings a pretty high floor with his typical involvement. The extra week of rest should help him recover after a knee issue limited his participation leading up to the AFC Championship.
He’s one of the most reliable Patriots pass-catchers, and if Maye can turn things around, Henry should remain one of his top targets. No snowstorms are expected for this game, so it should be a much better passing environment on Sunday.

Henry is a very solid FLEX play that brings both a high floor and high ceiling. His ownership could also be lower after some recent down games, though he should be able to bounce back on Sunday.
