Guard
Stud
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Oklahoma City Thunder vs. San Antonio Spurs ($10,400)
SGA is one of the most consistent and unguardable offensive forces in the game. He only played 27 and 29 minutes in the last two contests due to blowout, yet still put up 48 and 50.2 FPTS. The Thunder are favored by 8.5 points in this one, but I think it’s a competitive affair since it’s the NBA Cup Semifinals in Las Vegas. If so, then SGA could see his normal workload in the mid-30s. He averages 1.49 FPTS per minute.
Other Options: Jalen Brunson ($8,700), Desmond Bane ($7,700), Stephon Castle ($7,500), Josh Hart ($7,300), Jalen Suggs ($6,900)
Value
Anthony Black, Orlando Magic vs. New York Knicks ($5,400)
Black has been a part of the rotation from day one, playing around 20 minutes off the bench. When Paolo Banchero went down with an injury, Black started playing over 30 minutes. Over the last 12 games, Black has gone for over 20 FPTS in all with eight over 30 and a high of 42.2 FPTS. Now Franz Wagner is out and Black entered the starting lineup for him in the most recent contest. The shooting efficiency isn’t great, but Black contributes a little something something in every statistical category.
Other Options: Julian Champagnie ($4,600)
Forward
Stud
Chet Holmgren, Oklahoma City Thunder vs. San Antonio Spurs ($7,600)
Over the last three games, Holmgren has only played 23, 23 and 25 minutes due to blowouts. He still finished with over 40 FPTS in two of those contests. I think this will be a competitive affair, even with Victor Wembanyama not playing a full complement of minutes. Holmgren is averaging a career-high 18.8 points while shooting 58% from the field and 39% from downtown. He’s also pulling down 8.0 rebounds a game while racking up 0.6 steals and 1.5 blocks.
Other Options: Karl-Anthony Towns ($9,100), Mikal Bridges ($6,600)
Value
Tristan da Silva, Orlando Magic vs. New York Knicks ($3,800)
When Banchero first succumbed to injury, it was da Silva who entered the starting lineup, and he thrived, putting up over 30 FPTS in the first two games. But the production and playing time dissipated and da Silva found himself coming off the bench for around 20 minutes a night. With Wagner out with an injury, da Silva still came off the bench but received 28 minutes. I think the playing time will be there once again. As for the production? No clue, but he’s shown the ability to produce in the past.
Other Options: OG Anunoby ($5,900), Devin Vassell ($5,600), Keldon Johnson ($4,800), Julian Champagnie ($4,600)
Center
Stud
Karl-Anthony Towns, New York Knicks at Orlando Magic ($9,100)
Towns is one of the most unique players in the league due to his combination of size and skill. But he often confounds due to his lack of toughness at times, which shows up on the glass and while posting up. As a result, the production vacillates. Towns has nine games under 40 FPTS, with two of those in the 20s. That said, he has eight games over 50 FPTS with four over 60 and a high of 71.5 FPTS.
Other Options: N/A
Value
Luke Kornet, San Antonio Spurs at Oklahoma City Thunder ($4,400)
Kornet only averages 0.84 FPTS per minute and could very well end up with single-digit FPTS. That said, he’s put up at least 20 FPTS in 10 of 16 games with two over 30 FPTS. I think the ownership will be lower due to Wembanyama’s return, but Kornet was playing alongside him earlier in the season and Wembanyama likely won’t see a full complement of minutes. Now, OKC could run the Spurs off the floor or play small, so there’s risk, but the price is somewhat palatable.
Other Options: Wendell Carter Jr. ($5,200)
