Is Luke Musgrave a top fantasy football waiver add with Tucker Kraft out for season?

On top of losing to the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, the Green Bay Packers also lost their most productive pass-catcher. Tight end Tucker Kraft suffered a torn ACL in his right knee, ending his 2025 season in Week 9. Looking past how Kraft’s injury impacts the Packers in real life, it also makes Luke Musgrave one of the hottest names on the fantasy football waiver wire heading into Week 10.

Green Bay selected Musgrave in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft – one round before they snagged Kraft. Now, after spending his first two professional seasons as the more injury-prone one of the pair, Musgrave has a chance to become the Packers’ unchallenged No. 1 tight end.

Musgrave is currently owned in just 0.3% of ESPN leagues and 1% of Yahoo Leagues. With a Monday Night Football showdown against the Philadelphia Eagles on the docket, is Musgrave worth a waiver claim heading into Week 10?

Before taking a look at Musgrave, it’s worth breaking down what exactly the Packers are losing in Kraft. The 25-year-old has caught 32 passes on 44 targets, racking up 489 yards and six touchdowns through eight games. Kraft really exploded in Week 8, scoring two touchdowns en route to 33.3 PPR fantasy points. There is now a void in Green Bay’s offense, both at the tight end position and in the passing game in general.

Musgrave will do his best to step in and take on Kraft’s role, but he has recorded just 88 yards on nine catches and 10 targets so far in 2025. He totaled 45 yards on seven receptions and 10 targets in 2024, with a midseason ankle surgery limiting him to seven games. Musgrave was far more productive in 2023, reeling in 34 of his 46 targets for 352 yards and a touchdown. He did that in 11 games, before he suffered a lacerated kidney that knocked him out for the rest of the fantasy season.

The hope for Musgrave is that he comes in and immediately takes on Kraft’s exact role and production. He showed flashes through two months his rookie year, after all, when he played 70.8% of Green Bay’s offensive snaps.

But in reality, it’s hard to envision Musgrave becoming a top-15 tight end right off the bat. He has seen the field on just 32.0% of the Packers’ offensive snaps in 2025, which is barely more than John FitzPatrick’s 25.3% snap share. Musgave is averaging 0.13 targets per route run, compared to FitzPatrick’s 0.11. Musgrave is a far more competent vertical threat – he has a 9.30-yard average depth of target while FitzPatrick has a 1.80 ADOT – but FitzPatrick could turn out to be the more relevant red zone option.

There’s also the matter of the Packers’ other receivers, who could pull some of Kraft’s production away from the tight end position. Even with Dontayvion Wicks, Matthew Golden and Jayden Reed banged up, Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs and Malik Heath are still around. It isn’t a given that all of the looks that would have gone to Kraft will continue to go to the tight end position.

There is a chance that Musgrave breaks out in the second half of the season. Just don’t count on Musgrave as a true Kraft replacement in fantasy, or the idea that he will be a starting-caliber tight end in Week 10.
