Despite being banged up at the wide receiver position, the Commanders are growing favorites on MNF against the Bears. However, the injured receivers solidify an already strong betting angle on the Washington backfield in this game. When I put out my NFL Week 6 player props article last week, I recommended a play on Jacory Croskey-Merritt to go over his rushing yardage prop, which was then set at 61.5 yards. It has since been bet into the 70’s, but I still think it’s worth a play if you’re late to the party. Aside from being down some pass catchers for the game, the Bears represent the ideal matchup for a running back this season — particularly on a home favorite.
Bill, as we’ve come to call him, had a breakout game for Washington last week, ripping off 111 yards on the ground with a pair of touchdowns on just 14 carries. That came against a middle of the pack Chargers’ run defense, and now Bill gets to face the absolute bottom of the barrel in the Bears.
Chicago ranks dead last against the run this season, giving up nearly 165 rushing yards per game. The Bears gave up 240 yards on the ground last time out against the lowly Raiders, including a 21-138-1 line to Ashton Jeanty. Even the backup, Raheem Mostert, went for 62 yards on four carries in that game. Mostert and Jeanty were the fourth and fifth running backs to go over this number in just four games against the Bears, with other backups also coming close. Every starter has easily exceeded this number.
Croskey-Merrit should thrive off his best game in the NFL last week, and feast in this matchup on MNF.
NFL Pick: Jacory Croskey-Merritt OVER 69.5 Rushing Yards (-112)
